Getting Organised For 2017

Hi Guys

Today I thought I would share with you the planner which I have been using to keep myself organised during this term at university. I know many of you love stationary and most get a new diary around this time of year.  I would be should I not have an academic one however when I was looking for one in the summer I couldn’t find one I liked. Then I discovered personal planner which allowed you to customise your own planner so I thought I would share mine with you. I have only shown blank pages so that you don’t find out any information which is personal.

I decided that I was going to use one of there already designed front covers due to the fact I liked the chalkboard effect and how it looked I also liked the quote which was on the front. The only change I made was to add my name to it so that people know who it belongs to should it go missing for some reason. I also chose the black string to go around my planner as I feel like this so something which goes with the theme which I was going for however you can have a range of strings and design your own cover if you want to.

Inside on the first page, you could have anything such as your contact details however I decided that I was going to go with some quotes because of the fact I wanted to remain motivated and remind me that I can do things even when the going is tough. This is something I knew would happen with a young daughter commuting and second-year university work. I had to keep myself organised as well otherwise  everything would go to pot and I would end up failing and a very stressed mummy.

In the actual planner, I decided that I was going to go with a horizontal box design the reason for this is some days I have so much to write in and I need as much space as I can get. I actually write the readings I need to complete as well as assignments and events such as lectures which I have to attend even with all this space I have found some days I am still struggling for space. In these boxes, you can also add birthdays and how old the person is this can be done on the website and printed into your planner which is a good idea for people like me who don’t ever remember how old people I never remember if it is a big birthday or not and sometimes forget the date

The next thing after all of this week pages is the month overview calendar and this is so handy as I can  write down when my assignment was due and then if people as me I can come out to an event or something I can look and base it around this. It also helps me write down events which are a long time ahead as sometimes I find out about things months in advance and if I don’t write them down I know I will forget them. I have the month overviews for the whole of 16 and 17 so I can write things down for after this planner will end. I have been known to write down when my library books are due back and things like this as well so I don’t end up paying late fees

The final section of this planner is where you get to choose the type of paper which you have at the end for me I choose to have the lined paper as I knew this was going to be something which I would be able to use to make lists. You can choose from a range of different types of paper for example squared, plain and even colouring pages. I have used this to make notes and also a to do list I find satisfactions of ticking things I need to do off my list.
I have a blogging planner as well which is on its way so if this is something you would be interested in seeing let me know and this is something which I can do for you. I am detemined that 2017 is the year of organisation for me at least

What To Take To University

Hi Guys

This post was seen on my old blog last year however this is something which I still see as relvant and thought it may be of some us to you. So today I am going to share what you need to take to uni in general so that you do not forget anything these are some thing which people may forgot due to them not been on the lists. Let;s face it your room becomes your home away from home you spend a lot of time in it studying, sleeping and just generally chilling. There is nothing worse than the white walls and horrid carpets.  So anything you can do to make it feel more like home you are going to do it trust me.

Bedding-
If you are anything like me your bed will take up one of the biggest spaces in your room and it is where you will spend a lot of your time even if it is just sat on your bed catching up on tv or youtube in my case. Most of my bedding sets come from Primark because of the fact that they look so cute and they are available at student prices. Due to the fact that Primark don’t have a website I can not show you my favourites.  You can also get a from there I promise they are good quality because that’s what I have an they have never done me any harm.

Laundry-
Unfortunatly the time has come where you mum will no longer be doing your washing and it is something which you are going to have to do for yourself.  First your going to need a laundry basket to store all them dirty clothes so you don’t have to see them again Primark do cute ones for cheap, Primark is also a good place to get some clothes hangers so you don’t have to have a floorode all year. A clothes horse is also something which you need to invest in because of the fact it is easy to dry clothes this way I picked mine up pretty cheap in Argos I have this one. Washing powder is something else you will need but this can be purchased in your first food shop at uni.

Clothes-
Don’t forget your clothes you don’t want to have to be the one without enough clothes and constantly having to make trips to Primark to make sure you get by. However don’t over pack because space can be limited and you can always purchase them while at uni

Toiletries-
You can always purchase them when you are at uni but don’t forget that you are going to need some to get you started.

Towels- are something which you have to take yourself as well I have got mine from Tesco in the past and they have been so soft and amazing.  Toilet roll and soap is something which I have had to provide myself in the houses which I have lived in but this is something I would purchase when you move in.

Misc-

A door stop you always want your door open if you want people to come in and see you more so if you are a fresher. I still love having my door open because I feel like it is more homely. I have a beautiful doorstop from Next which is a duck however they have a range of others including this beautiful pug. When I was looking for a new one after living in the attic last year I couldn’t find many places which sold door stops.

A bin not every uni room has one mine didn’t last year at all I just picked up a metal bin from Wilko which was about £1.50 and that did me last year. I have now taken it home because my room this year actually comes with a bin.

Fairylights I purchased two packets last year from Primark because I think that they looked adoreable. They also made the white walls pop a little bit which is something I wanted anything to inject some colour into my room and make it feel more homely.

Extension Lead there is never going to be enough plugs this is something you need to realise so just pick up a basic extension lead again these can be found in places such as Wilko or local supermarkets.

Posters to break up your walls this is something which I did in first year but since then I have accessorized with cute thing which I have found people selling on sites such as Ebay, Etsy and also sometime local shops.

Candles they are something which I am addicted to anyway so could not go to uni without. I have a wide selection you can always get some cheap amazing ones from brands such as Primark, B&M, Poundland, Wlko as well as companies such as Flamingo Candles, Busy Bee Candles and Yankee.

I have not included kitchen because I know this can vary from uni to uni.

If there is anything you think I have forgotten please let me know in the comments below?

How To Handle Freshers

Hi Guys
Today I have decided that I am going to share with my tips on how to handle freshers I shared this post on my old blog last year but I know that it is still relevant. I know it is the time of year when all students head back to uni or start for the very first time which can seem a daunting experience. I was a fresher three  years ago now so have done 2 freshers weeks. I will be going to a new university this week to finish the final two years of my degree after having Jess. Actual as you read this post it will be freshers for me but with a twist when you commute an hour and have a nearly one year old in tow it is going to be completely different but hey.

I choose to embark on a journey which would see me move over 100 miles away from East Yorkshire to West Cheshire. Nobody I knew from my college or previous education had chosen the same university as me this is something I was glad about but also nervous about as it meant I would have to make a whole new bunch of friends. These are the tips which I have for making friends and surviving your first few weeks of uni life.
Use Facebook Groups– This is how I found some people who where going to be living with me in halls which meant that I knew people when I moved in I only lived in a small halls there was 13 of us all girls but it helped to know people. You can also ask what course people are planning on studying as this will help you meet people off your course which is always a bonus because then you know people for that first lecture or introduction session.
Introductory Sessions– This is something which your course will hold in freshers week this allows you to meet people who are going to be on your course as well as the lectures who are going to be teaching you. It allows you to get rid of some of them nerves as well because you are expanding the amount of people you know.
Have alcohol ready– If you are someone who likes to drink make sure that you have your alcohol ready for the first night. You don’t want to be the only one without it and lets face it we all know that it gives you confidence to speak to people who you may not have approached.
Don’t blow all your loan straight away-  It may be tempting to blow the whole of your student loan on something which you have had at the top of your wishlist for a while but it has to last you till Christmas. I can’t imagining anything worse than being broke for the whole of the semester meaning you have to say no to people when they ask you to do things.
Student Discount – Why not ask places if they take student discount after all those pennies all add up and it is something us students can’t afford not to use.
Budget-  Make sure you don’t spend all your money on nights out because you do have to eat there is nothing worse than being hungover and having nothing to eat at all. The same goes for feeling homesick and not being able to travel home due to the fact you have no money.
Explore-  It it is more than likely that you have moved to a new place so why not see what gems it has to offer sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised and this is always a good way to get to know them new friends.
Be yourself- 3 years is a long time to keep an act up and pretend that you are someone who you clearly are not. People will love you for who you are don’t worry about it at all.
What tips would you have for anyone starting uni this year? Or maybe you are going to uni this year and are nervous let me know why?
