The end of another year has approached we have had some amazing highs and lows this year. Memories which will be treasured for a long time to come with some people who we hope are going to be around for a long time. Let’s hope the curse of ill health does not follow us into 2017. I was tagged by the lovely Lorna to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the upcoming one.
What was your highlight of 2016?
Personal I would say it was been accepting into York St John after my year out because I was doubting if I would ever be able to finish my degree, I might have had to go back a year so am in my second instead of the third year but this is something I am so thankful for. Being a mummy I would say my other highlight is spending more time with Jess and watching her grow up with some amazing people around us.
Name one thing you are likely to remember about 2016 if asked in five years time?
I know is has been a couple of months since I last did one of these and that is due to the fact that I am so busy I forget that it is the end of a month when I remember I feel like it is too late to upload and post them. Before we get started in sharing what we have done this month we have an exciting announcement tomorrow we will be starting Blogmas however this is not like a normal one due to having two Christmas’s we are going all the way until New Years Day.
The start of this month feels like an age ago, however, it saw Jess get her first pair of shoes well actually she managed to get two a pair of boots and a pair of patent black shoes they are amazing they actually light up. When we tried to get her feet measured the first time she was having none of it she scrunched her feet up and cried. We needed to go shopping else were in town this means she had time to have a nap and then on the way back she played ball and got shoes. Jess at once stage did not like anything on her feet not even socks and now she doesn’t like taking them off she even wears slippers at Nanny’s house and if she is lucky she may get some for Christmas for our house.
Also at the start of the month,it was Bonfire night the first year we though Jess may enjoy the bright flashes because last year she was so small and hated the bangs. We took her to a local organised display which was so nice even though it had started to rain and was cold as a result of this Jess managed to get way to cosy in her pram and fell asleep missing the whole display maybe next year she will manage to see some. At least me and Joe really enjoyed it even if the hot chocolate after was very disappointing.
During the week Jess is in nursery 5 days due to the fact that we are either at university or working which means that we try and do something with her every single weekend because we both feel like it is the only time we actually get to spend with her. As she wants to go to bed when we get in from nursery during the week because she is so tired.
The next weekend we had real pants weather which meant we needed to do something indoors, however, my parents offered to look after Jess which meant that me and Joe could have some us time. We took this opportunity and went to see Dr Strnge which is the latest Marvel film as you may know we are both huge fans. I feel like the film was different for Marvel, however, we have all just become to expect the avengers from them and this was not it kept been very trippy and made you think about what you was actually watching. There is going to be a sequel so it will be interesting to see how they do it. We do haver to wait a while for the next Marvel film, however, Star Wars is out very soon and we have tickets for the first day. I have not told Joe yet so if your reading it surprise.
During the week I had time off University for reading week which meant I was not taking Jess to nursery resulting in us having some fun time together just chilling, We also managed to meet up with one of my best friends in Costa were Jess developed a love for hot chocolate. However, with it begin Children in Need nursery had two dress up day’s and this is something Jess loves so for one of the days my Mum came with us and we went shopping while she was there which resulted in me getting most of my secret Santa presents done we managed to have some lunch at Zizzi’s upgrade my phone and then pick Jess up. We had one more surprise that day though as Joe had finished work and he was very close by he decided to come and met us and Jess had her first baby chococino you should have seen the mess which was created all I can say is at least she enjoyed it.
Due to the fact that one set of Jess’s grandparents only get to see her every 6 weeks or so we had to go and visit them the following weekend. This time was different as we actually had plans and went on a nice family outting to Birmingham Christmas Market, however. it was super busy in the bullring and some people in the party couldn’t keep with the pace we ended up splitting up and meeting again at a set time. That day was not good for my bank balance as I went a little bit crazy in Nars and Victoria’s Secret but a girl has to treat herself after I had two panic attacks that day which was not nice at all one I have no clue why it occured. Later that night Joe had to leave which was not nice I as you can imagine there were plenty of tears knowing I would not see him for two whole weeks and I had to spend another day with his parents alone scary for someone who only met them a year ago after having their grandchild.
On Sunday the weather was not very nice either but we had to go out of the house without a car sear it meant we could not go very far. We decided that we would take a walk into the town centre which leads to Jess being spoilt I think she had around £60 spent on her and we only went to get out the house. I may do a haul showing you what she got during Blogmas because I have not had time to do this yet. All I can say is this girl now has a way more stylish wardrobe than her Mummy.
This weekend there was a food and drink festival in a nearby town which I had seen advertised and mentioned to my Mum. Last week we had barely seen each other due to work and uni so it was nice to spend some time with her something I feel like we do not do enough anymore we used to spend so much time. We had fun walking around and trying some of the samples from the stalls which lead to us purchasing a few bits for Christmas it was nice to have a few hours with my Mum and we even managed to go out for lunch. Jess stayed at home with Grandad due to the fact that she is full of cold I had only just started feeling better from it and we didn’t want to drag her out.
We have a few plans already made for December we have a quiz, cinema trip, weekend away and then two Christmas’s so next month is looking very exciting.
What have you been up to this month?
You may have noticed that I have not posted since the start of August, This is due to the fact that we have has a super busy month you might have seen some of the pictures if you follow me over on Instagram my handle is @cupsofcharlotte. So before this post gets really long and rambley let’s get into it.
Right at the start of the month of August we went on our first family holiday with Daddy his parents we went to Norfolk. It is the first time that I had been on holiday with Daddy as well so it was a special time for us all. We stayed in a cottage in a really quite place called East Runton which is between Cromer and Sherringham. During the weeks holiday we went to a local shire horse sanctuary and Jess got to stroke a horse and see all the animals. We had a trip to Yarmouth we had a really nice long walk and then played on the beach this is were Jess experienced going into the North sea for the first time as you can imagine it was cold. The next day we went to Wells and has a walk I loved seeing how strange the sea is because it doesn’t come in all at the same time it comes in patches and it looks amazing on the way home Jess went swimming for the first time. However I was injured and it meant I couldn’t go in the pool but it was fine she was with Daddy and Grandad however I did manage to get some photos of her first time in the water. The next day we had to have an emergency
trip into Norwich because I dropped my Iphone and I couldn’t deal with the cracked screen and I managed to get it done that day from the Apple store. Then that night went to a really strange carnival which was in Sherringham there was a huge parade and then it has local dance schools and other class which was very good. We had walked to places for the rest of the holiday and then we went to King’s Lynn on the way home and that is were I went to Primark and that is were that haul is from that store.
We had a few chilled days after the holiday and then it was time for Mummy to go home for a few days so she could do some work. However this didn’t stop Jess and Daddy exploring some more. They made a trip up to York with Grandma because she had never been before and Daddy had left some things up there. This meant they had a lovely walk around and sent me some beautiful pictures while I was at work I might have been slightly jealous. York is such a beautiful place I really can’t wait to study there in a couple of weeks time. Then at the weekend of that week she went on another day trip to the seaside with Grandma,Granddad and Daddy they went to Skegness and walked for 12 miles which sounds so far at least Jess was in the pram however in this trip she didn’t manage to get on the actual beach.
Finally after what felt like forever I went back down to Jess after missing her crazy ways like mad. This was the start of finding out that we had a water baby. We decided that because we both were off and Jess seemed to love to swim we would take her swimming. The first time we took her when at home she spend an hour in the pool then the next time it was two hours followed by an hour bath. I swear she is turning into a fish but I am really glad that she loves been in the water because of the fact swimming is something that could save her life in the future.I think I might sent her to swimming lessons in future when she is a bit older. We made Jess visit some of the family which she doesn’t see very often like her great Nan who does all of the knitting which you may have seen on Instagram. They seem to have become friends because Jess usually cries when we go there because she falls asleep on the way and doesn’t like it when we wake her up to go in. This week we also had a trip to Melton so that Daddy could get his car wheels sprayed again and they look so much better than they did. This meant we got to go and look around the shops and play in the park while we waited for it to be done it was a good family day out and we managed not to spend too much money on Jess. I think it was one of the only shopping trips were she didn’t get something. Again this weekend Mummy had to go to work again and Daddy has a day out with his friends it meant she had to have a day with Grandma and this meant she had to go into town and then go and see some more family which I am sure she loved. At least when she got home from this it meant that did get to play in her ball pool which she loves so much well she loves throwing the balls out and watching them roll on the laminate floor.
Last week we managed a couple of chill days due to the fact that we really need one as we had started to get worn out. We had a night in a hotel in Loughborough and a look around due to the fact that we had bought Daddy a track day and he had to be there at 8am. If we had not stayed over we would have been looking at getting up at 5.30am nobody really fancied doing that. Jess enjoyed watching all the fast cars and I think she decided that we should get a car which was only £300.000 yes Jess you can keep on dreaming about that. After we had finished there and Jess had a nap because it was so hot we took a trip into Nottingham. This is were Jess got her first build a bear which is Captain America can you tell we like Marvel. He even says some words which is really cool we have put it at the bottom of her cot and due to the fact that she got it with Daddy she goes to it every morning and tries to give it a cuddle maybe she thinks she is actually giving Daddy a cuddle. This bank holiday weekend saw the end of our month with Daddy, I had to leave early on Saturday morning due to the fact that my team were playing at Wembley and after 57 years we have finally won there. Jess had a day with the family watching the rugby and then she went out for a meal with them and the extended family due to the fact that it was Grandma’s birthday that day. The Sunday saw Jess pack up the car and get driven all the way home she was really sad when she came home. I think this was due to the fact that she had spent a whole month with Daddy and now she wouldn’t see him for two weeks which is a long time in her life. Since she came home she has just had a few chilled out days and been catching up on her sleep.
I can’t believe how busy we have been this month and it shows no sign of slowing down in September. We have a special little girl’s first birthday and a wedding to attend I really don’t know were this year has gone. It doesn’t seem two moments ago since I finished university to have her and now I am going back and this really scares me redoing my second year at a new university. What do you have planned for the next month.
