Project Polish 2021 Update 1

Today I am going to be sharing with you the first update for my project polish. If you have not read my introduction you can read it here. In short, I want to see how many nail polishes I can get used up this year.  Nail varnish is something that I have tons of and never seem to be able to get down. I have not purchased any new shades in the longest time now because I am trying to use some up. This is something that I did in 2020 and managed to use a fair bit of nail polish. On to the update.

I have managed to finish a nail polish up already. It was the Essie Mini in Avenue Maintain this was the blue shade which I added a ton of thinner to. Sadly I only managed to get one coat of this polish for a manicure. I had made it way too thin really. I am sad this shade has been used up as it is a beautiful blue which is really easy to wear. If I look through my whole collection I bet I have a shade similar to this so I will not be repurchasing this one yet. Since I did finish a shade it does mean I get to roll another one in.

In its place, I have decided to roll in another Essie Mini in Smooth Sailing.  This is one which I have had in my collection and long time and do not think I have really ever used. This is a blue shade but it has a lot of flecks of grey and silver. I think this is going to be a beautiful colour for this period while it is still cold in the UK. This is a shade that I would love to have used up before the end of spring. Essie Mini’s do not last that long once you start using them.

The other mini which I have is the Ciate in Main Stage. I have only used this once which was not enough to make a new mark sadly. This is a polish which I wore at the start of the month. I did not realise how much darker this can look on the nails. I am proud that I have managed to make some progress on and can see me using a ton of this polish this year as well.

Another shade that I have decided to try and use up is the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Sugar Plum. I remembered how much I love the formulae of this range. I used it a couple of times this month and I am proud of the progress this is one which I reckon I will use over the summer. This does make me think of the warmer months. I think this is one of the reasons I love the shade. Before the end of the summer, this will be a shade that I have finished.

I have decided to add a Topshop polish in Easy Breezy. This is a shade that I have used a couple of times this month. I have been paring it with the Barry M Berry Ice Cream shade. I have made a small amount of progress on this shade. As you can see from the picture. I may now be about halfway through this shade now. I think this is going to be one of the first shades which I use up this year. This is a shade that I can wear so easily and it does last a fair few days without chipping which is something that I love.

I rolled in a brand new shade which was Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in Purple Rain. I currently have this one on my toes. It did actually take 3 coats because this is such a thin watery polish. It is going to be one that I may end up having to play with in order for it to work for me. This is one that I really want to make a dent in while the weather is still cooler. It is one which I may end up teaming with glitter and seeing if I can get it to work with this. This is going to be one of the hardest ones to use up sadly.

The final shade which I have decided to try and use is the Barry M Berry Ice Cream Polish. This is one of the polishes which I have been using the most this month. I think it was only a couple of times because I have used all the shades this month. I have been doing alternate nails with the Topshop Easy Breezy shade. This pairs really well with this shade because they are both pastels and work really well together. I would have been able to make a small line because I have only made a small amount of progress. This is something that I can live with because I am loving this shade at the moment.

Last month I managed to hit my goal of using every single shade. I even managed to have one polish leave the project. This month my goal is going to be to make new lines on the shade which I did not get to do this month. So this is the Ciate in Main Stage, Barry M Berry Ice Cream, and the new one Smooth Sailing.

What polishes have you been using recently?
