February Edit Tag

I know this post may seem a little bit late but this is because February is such a short month. I had so much content which I wanted to get up and this February tag is of one those who just ended up in March. Next week coming to a preloved post from February as well.  This month the lovely Lisa has chosen the theme of love, romance and getting through the lag that is winter. This is because of course, February is the month which has Valentines and statistically is the coldest month of the year.  So I am going to get on answering the questions which I have been asked for this month.

What is the blog tag?

The blog tag is just a fun tag about getting to know the blogger behind the blog, but to also talk about things topical each month which Lisa does share.  I am going to share my answers to things which she has asked and then hopefully you will actually find something which you would not have normally learnt about me. If you have not been tagged just feel free to copy the questions and answer them.

How’s your day going?

Today is a day which I feel like I need more hours in the day. This is a common theme this week I wish I could have more hours.  I am trying to get so much done this month both on my blog and also in the house. It is making me want to sleep a lot and what is this rubbish weather. I thought spring has come at the end of last month.

Did you celebrate valentines day?

We did actually we purchased a meal for two which was amazing we got it from Asda. I would recommend doing this next year we had steak as well which is something which I have not had for a long time.  Since we have Jess it does mean that it is harder to go out. We finished the night off by watching the latest Thor film which I have not seen. Now, what else could a girl want for Valentines?  I know there is are people who are not into Valentine’s day but it is something which we are not hugely into either.

Tell me what is your favourite chick flick?

Chick flicks are something which I do not watch a lot of. However, I would say that one of my favourite chick flicks is friends with benefits for sure this is a film which I could watch a hundred times. This reminds me I have not actually watched this for such a long time.

What are you looking forward to in Spring?

I am looking forward to having some better weather which means that we can go out and explore. Days out are something which we love doing as a family. This year, of course, I want to start on the project garden because that does need a lot of TLC.  In hopes that by the summer it is going to be useable and be the place where some amazing memories are created.

What do you want to achieve this month?

I have done both Febaury goals and a March Goals posts which you can read.  I do want to get more organised and ahead with things this month. More time is something I love because it has started again where my evenings are been eaten up by doing jobs.  Which is something that I am not a huge fan of at all. With this time then I could spend more time on self-care this again is something which I have neglected. Have you started to notice a theme here.

As it’s hibernating season, what are you Netflix faves?

I have just got rid of Netflix again, however when I did have it I was loving Consumed. I binged watched that and it made me realise that I did not need half of the things which we have.  Slowly I am decluttering our lives again it seems to have got a little bit crazy again after Christmas. I like documentaries as well so something which I love is the Air Ambulance type of programmes which you get on Sky and all of the good work that they do. It is very important to support them because you never know when or if you are going need them.

What has life taught you this past month?

Life has reminded me more than taught me this month how everything can change at a click of the fingers. I am not saying this because someone has died but been an armed forces family things do change at the drop of a hat. I can find myself solo parenting the little monkey for periods of time. But it does mean that Jess does have an amazing bond with me she is like my best friend sometimes.  I know Joe is actually her favourite because she does tell me enough.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your days what would it be?

Salt and Pepper Chicken from the Chinese it is amazing. Or if I am allowed I would make it at home because that’s a hell of a lot healthier and Katy has an amazing recipe which you should all try.  Failing that Katsu curry because that is something else I love. Damm I now am craving both of these and can’t have either for lunch.

Name one tv show that you just can’t get into?

I do not watch much TV anymore actually.  I would say something like call the midwife because everyone is obsessed with it and it is something which I have not watched a lot of.

What is the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

Is cleaning the house, doing the washing and making food for him classed as been romantic.  This is something which I find my self doing a lot so I would say this is something. I would say this.

If you fancy doing this post feel free to and leave your links in the comments so I can read them all.

Lush £100 Regular Item Tag

I was actually tagged by Luke in the What Regular Items Would You Buy If Lush Gave You £100 Tag. Lush is a store which I have been obsessed with for a number of years. I have not been purchasing so much in recently since we moved house. So I am going to get on with the rules of the tag before sharing my answers with you.

Rules

1. All items must be available all year round and can’t be from any of their limited edition ranges.

2. You must show the prices of all of your chosen items.

3. The total of your items must not exceed the £100 allowance.

4. Nominate three people to also do the Tag.

The Comforter Bubble Bar – £5.25. This is one of my favourite scents which Lush do. It makes so many bubbles which smell of Blackcurrant. I wish I could still get this as a shower gel but sadly Lush no longer sell this.

Seanik Shampoo Bar- £7.50. Naked shampoo bars are something I adore. I have trained my hair so it only needs washing once a week maybe twice with the gym. They have left my hair feeling like it is in much better condition and actually growing. I love there is no plastic as well because they are so easy to travel with in metal tins.

R&B Hair Moisturiser – £13.50. This is a product which I have been using for years as well. I rarely use conditioner due to how often I wash my hair I can get away with using this instead. This is a thick moist riser which actually stops your hair feeling like it is dried out and frazzled.

Scrub Scrub Scrub – £12.95. I think this now could be my favourite lush scrub which they do. It smells amazing it is a mix of lord of misrule which is the best anyway and then the comforter. If you can get over the fact that the body scrub is black then you may love it too. I have had complements on how smooth my skin is when I have been using this product.

Brightside Bubble Bar- £5.25. This is one of the only bubble bars which I have repurchased. It is one which I would buy because the orange scent is one which makes me feel uplifted. Plus who does not want to bathe in a bath of orange juice if they are feeling a bit down.

Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask – £7.95. Another lush cult classic this helps so much if my skin is having a horrible time and breaking out a lot. This a product which I usually have one at least in my house of. For sure if you have not tried this and you have blemish prone skin you need to.

Don’t Look At Me Fresh Face Mask – £8.50. Wow I did not realise how expensive the fresh face masks are now. This is one which picks me up and refreshes my skin when it is looking tired and horrible. I like using this one in the bath when I am reading for some reason. I think its the lemon juice in it that makes me want to use it more.

Mint Julips Lip Scrub – £6.50. I actually love using the lip scrubs I dread to think how many of them I have now. Using them helps matte lipsticks look a lot better. I find them so handy as you can just throw them in your bag as well.

Happy Hippy Shower Gel – £10.50. I think this may be my favourite regular line lush shower gel. It is one which if you use in a morning you know it is going to wake you up because of the grapefruit which is included. I need things to get me up and motivated at the moment so maybe I should go and purchase this shower gel.

Grease Lightening Spot Treatment- £7.95. Spots on my face are something which I can not pop which means that I need to use something. I have noticed that when I put this product on the spots they seem to considerably reduce in size overnight. For me a bottle of this last such a long time so it is worth the money.

Berlin Lipstick- £13.50,this may be classed as cheating as you can only get this online. However, Lush lipsticks are something which I loved before they changed them all. I would love to try them now and see if I like them anymore. Without seeing them I have had to choose the one which I think I would be most likely to wear.

My total £99.35

I nominate anyone who wants to do this tag because for sure it is fun. What would you spend £100 on in Lush. Or what if your favourite Lush Product let me know in the comments.

The Blog Tag- January Edition

Today I am going to do something which I have not done for a long period of time. That is a tag these used to something bloggers would do so much, recently this is something which seems to have changed. However, the lovely Lisa tagged me in the blog tag. Which is something which she has created. Basically, it is for you to get to know me a little bit better and also talk about topical thing each month. Seen as it is January the theme this month is the brand new year and what we want to achieve.

Happy new year! How did you welcome the year in?

We had a homemade Chinese and watch a bit of telly. I really wanted to go to bed around 10pm after the last leg. I managed to stay up to watch the fireworks which I was disappointed with and headed to bed around 12.20 when Jess woke up. She is scared of fireworks and people around us were letting them off.

Did you make any new years resolutions? Share them!

I actually instead set goals instead of resolutions and I am doing well at achieving the ones I set for January you can read them here. (Shameless plug).

Are you feeling motivated now the new year has been and gone?

I am I love a fresh start and a new diary to fill up. I love been able to look back at all the things which I have achieved this year. So January to me is one of those months filled with motivation. Even this year if I am solo parenting for the majority of it. I guess it does mean I can spend more time on my blog.

Name one thing you want to smash this year in terms of blog goals?

I really want to add 500 to every social media platform this year. I do have another one as well it is to smash pinterestThis that it may be a struggle to do it but I am sure if I engage with others and keep up the hard work it might come off. I am hopefully going to Blogon this May as well so this will be a great chance to network with fellow bloggers.

What do you want to achieve in every day life?

I actually want to make sure that I am happier this year there were period of last year which were not the greatest for me. I am mindful of this and I want to take more time for myself less time spent on Instagram and more time reading and going for walks things that are going to boost my mental health state.

What are you not looking forward to this year?

I do not think there is anything that I am not looking forward to. So I am going to say the one which most people will guess and that is solo parenting for long periods. I know it is part and parcel of military family live but it is annoying when plans and everything change at the drop of a hat. I am unsure how much solo parenting I have this year to come as well so I can not prepare for it.

Share with us some of your inspirations. They could be bloggers/influencers, books or even just quotes.

It is actually a quote which is on my office wall from Captain America and it is “It does not matter who hurt you or broke you down what matters is who made you smile again”.

What is your go to working music or background noise?

Usually it is a wide mix of music which I can sing to. For some reason I have found that I am way more productive if I can be singing my head off that if I am working in silence. This is only when I am doing house work or blogging though. I used to have to work in silence when at uni.

Talking about positivity what is one thing you will change for positive thinking this year?

I want to focus on the positives of my life this year rather than focusing on something which is negative. I have so many things which I should be happy about I need to start seeing this and focusing on this. It is a lot harder than it actually sounds.

Share a positive thing that happened today.

I managed to go to the gym and do things which I have not been able to do before. I can see progress already and this is keeping me motivated to go back which is always a bonus.

If you do this tag leave the link below I am for sure going to check it out.

The Mama Tag

Tags are something which used to be on my site a lot of the time when I first started blogging, These are something which I have not done in a long time now which makes me said as I think this is a good way to get to know bloggers who you read a lot. Today I have been tagged in the mama tag by the wonderful Claire here is my answers to the questions which means you can learn more about me which is always fun because who isn’t nosey and want to know more.

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU HAD YOUR FIRST CHILD?

I had Jess when I was 20 but I would have been classed as a teen mum for the start of my pregnancy .

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING PREGNANT FOR 9 MONTHS?

My pregnancy with Jess was pretty fast as some of you may know if you have been around for a long time. I actually only knew for about 14 weeks that Jess was on her way I did not find out till I was 26 weeks so of course it flew by. I think the hardest part for me was the fact that I had to adjust in this short period of time that I was going to be a mummy and of course this was very scary.

CAN YOU THINK OF ANY GOOD THINGS YOU ENJOYED DURING THOSE 9 MONTHS?

Again because it was not long I will not say that I did not love it however, I hated not been able to be as active as I had been. The adjust to now been heavily pregnant and showing was something which I struggled with I am sure if I had another child I would enjoy it a lot more than I did.

IN YOUR OPINION, WERE ALL OF THE THINGS YOU HEARD ABOUT CHILDBIRTH ACCURATE OR WAY OFF?

I had heard all the horror stories of course before I had Jess however, it was not too bad for me even though I ended up having an emergency C section. I think there were points which I became scared in but of course everyone has different pain thresholds and people think different thinks are scary, So childbirth is going to be different for every single Mama.

WOULD YOU HAVE HANDLED CHILDBIRTH DIFFERENTLY IF YOU COULD RE-DO IT?

I think that I would love to be able to have my partner at the next birth or if we could actually do this again. I think that I would love him as well as have been able to have my mum this I am sure is going to calm me down when I am feeling scared and stressed out. It is very unlikely that my mum would be at a next birth because someone will need to be on hand for Jess.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS ABOUT TO HAVE A BABY?

RELAX do not over think it because of the fact that is the more you stress and worry the worse you are going to be. There is nothing you can do if you are going to end up needing a C section to become a mama this is going to happen it usually is only offered if it is the safest option. Things can change so fast and you can not do anything about them I am glad I did not worry too much about my c section because I had done some research about them previously.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING A MUM?

I would say it is the work-life balance because as you will know I have been doing my degree alongside been an mum. I feel guilty when I am spending time doing work or when it is nice weather and she is in childcare so at the moment I can get things ready for moving house alongside actually trying to find a job. I know this is something which most mamas struggle with even if they are at home the guilt is real. I have a feeling I feel it more because there is weeks where I have to solo parent due to Joe’s job and at one stage she hated me leaving her in case I did not return as well.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT BEING A MUM?

I would say this is like watching Jess grow up because it is amazing watching her personality she has become a really cheeky but funny little girl with a hint of sarcasm. I love watching her face when she is on days out or experiencing something for the first time that sheer look of wow. It doesn’t even have to be big things it can include her just been able to have an ice cream, I am loving the toddler stage minus the tantrums.

WHAT WAS THE MOST SURPRISING THING YOU DISCOVERED ABOUT BEING A MUM?

How tired it is possible to become and this does not actually stop even when they become older they still can wear you out. Jess makes me so tired watching how much she files around the tantrums which she gives me even wears me out which is never great. I thought that I was tiered before when I was a student well I can tell you when your a mama there is only so many nights you can burn the candle at both ends.

WHAT IS THE BEST MEMORY YOU HAVE INVOLVING YOUR CHILD?

I think think it was when we actually became a family for the time when the drama has stopped and we could enjoy having Jess. This mixed with the first time I saw Jess once I knew that I had to stop her from been adopted because this had been the plan. I knew I could no longer go through with it and i wanted my daughter to be mine.

WHAT WAS THE MOST EXCITING MILESTONE?

I would say them all because they are so special in their own way. Talking or walking I would say are the big two but now we can not get her to stop running off along with the fact that we sometimes we would pay for a little bit of piece and for her not to be constantly talking. We want them to hit the milestones as soon as they can but sometimes we regret it when they can do things we really don’t want them to do.

WHAT IS THE WORST THING YOUR CHILD HAS EVER DONE?

Tell people I have broken her ankle when I have not done anything must be up there as one of the worse. If only more people heard I am sure that social services would have been quickly round to make sure I am not a bad parent. I also hate it when she has a tantrum in public but I know sometimes that she can not help it and that’s how she can communicate that something is wrong.

WHAT HABIT DO YOU WISH YOUR CHILD DIDN’T HAVE?

Getting everything out instead of just a few toys is one so the whole floor looks a complete mess rather than just one area of the room is one of them. Another one which she does is been so sarcastic things like when she says thank you very much sometimes I do not know if she is been real or taking the piss out of us.  I know it is part of her personality but this can be so annoying.

WHAT HABIT OF THEIR MAKES YOU MOST PROUD?

I am proud of how polite she is she will say please and thank you without having to be asked which is amazing. She is so nice as well as will try and make everyone happy without you having to ask she will end up including everyone.

DO YOU SHARE ANY SIMILARITIES WITH YOUR CHILD? (BOTH PHYSICAL AND PERSONALITY?)

I think she is more like her daddy in personality but she can be stubborn like me. She is my double when I look at pictures of myself when I was her age I wish I had some of them I was Jess’s age to share with you.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CHILD TO BE IN 10 YEARS?

I just want Jess to be happy and healthy that is all that matters to me.

IS THERE SOMETHING THAT HAVING A CHILD HAS TAUGHT YOU?

That the things which may have mattered so much to you before you became a mama maybe are not as important when you have children. You change and of course, have to put their needs ahead of your own which can be super hard sometimes but it becomes natural as a mama.

DID YOU IMAGINE YOU’D BECOME A MUM AT THE AGE YOU BECAME A MUM?

No, Jess was not planned and in an ideal world I would have waited and had her when I had finished uni and has been more settled. But I would not change it at all now I love being her mama.

DESCRIBE YOUR CHILD IN ONE SENTENCE.

Jess is a ray of sunshine, a bundle of energy and just someone I always want to be around. I am proud to say she is my daughter.

I am not going to tag anyone as everyone I can think of has been tagged however, if you have not done it and would like to I tag you to do the mama tag. If you do please leave your links in the comments I will be sure to check them out.
