Preloved Finds May 2019

Trying to purchase less and if we need something can we get it preloved. Is what we are trying to do this year. Jess can grow out of clothes quickly. This means that I end up selling them on Ebay in order to make some money to reinvest in more for her. We have had toys and games for a fraction of their RRP.  EBay is somewhere where I get items which I think are going to be perfect for nursery. As we need clothes we do not mind getting a little bit ruined. Shopping preloved for us is to save items ending up in landfill and to save us some money.

If you have not seen what we have picked up in previous months you can see them here, February, March and April. This month we actually only made one trip to one charity shop.I did not purchase anything preloved from anywhere else.

This month Joe and I actually treated ourselves to a new book each. As you can see from the books which I have been reading this month. I have managed to finish 6 books so of course, I had to replace one seen am allowed one a month. This month I chose the one we fell in love with by Paige Toon. For sure I would recommend this book if you have not read it and you get the chance. To be honest I love any Paige Toon book.  In my local charity, all books are £1 which I do not think is that bad. Usually, I will either send them back for others to enjoy or I will put them on Bookmooch.

Joe purchased When The Eagles Hunt by Simon Scarrow. This is a book which took his fancy he does not read as many as me however, I am sure this is one which he will get finished when he is on an exercise. This seems to be the time when he manages to read the most. Again this was £1 like all books in our local charity shop.

Of course we could not leave Jess out when it comes to books so we picked her up this one. Which is a classic fairy story this has around 10 stories in it which means that we are not going to get bored for a long time. We tend to read a story every single night so we can get bored. These are quite long stories which means that this book may last her a long time. This is something we try to do so we are not having to replace her books all of the time. I seem to remember that this was either £1 or £2 for sure I did not think it was a bad price for what this book is.

Jigsaws, as you may remember, are something which Jess loves. Of course, they are not cheap so when we are able to pick her some new ones for a fraction of the price we do. This one is a 100 piece which is more pieces that she can currently do however, it will come in the future for sure. Winnie the Pooh is always a classic which is never going to age. We managed to get this one for the mere sum of 75p. I am going to keep this one back till some of the other ones which are currently is doing become to easy. I think this is something which Jess is going to have a lot of fun with.

For some reason this time we visited the charity shop there was a lot of jigsaws. This just meant we picked up a number of them because they will come in. Of course, when you are looking to get things preloved it can mean that you have to pick it up there and then rather than when you need them. Of course, they are not going to stay there forever. This Cinderella one is another one which we are going to keep for a little while. 100 pieces may still be too hard for her however, I know it will come in because after all, it is a classic Cinderella. This only cost us 75p which is a steal compared to the RRP of this jigsaws.

The final item which we picked up this month was another jigsaw. They tend to be something which we pick up a lot of preloved. I think this is due to the speed which Jess can get through them. This is one which she may be able to do in the next couple of weeks. I am unsure how long this one is going to last her because it is actually a giant floor puzzle. It does have 60 pieces which are currently about 18 more than the ones which is doing at the moment. Jess has not seen the incredibles however, for her this does not matter she just loves doing jigsaws. Again this is one which I did not think was a bad price it was 75p.

Have you picked anything good up preloved in the past month? Let me know in the comments below

Preloved Finds April 2019

Trying to purchase less new things and more preloved is something which we are trying to do more this year.  Jess grows out of toys and clothes very quickly I do sell a lot of her clothes which are in good condition. Sometimes I do sell toys as well if I think that they are worth it. Usually, I sell on eBay then items which are not perfect end up in the charity shop. Usually when in there we look if there is anything else we could use . We have had toys and games for a fraction of their RRP.  EBay is somewhere were I get items which I think are going to be perfect for nursery. As we need clothes we do not mind getting a little bit ruined. Shopping preloved for us is to save items ending up in landfill and to save us some money.

If you have not seen what we have picked up in previous months you can see them here, January, February and March.  We visited one charity shop this month and then we also went to a market. We went to a baby dinosaur market which is where items which aimed at 0-10 years are sold.

This month there is more of the clothing element because Jess has enough toys for the moment. There is some which I have put away for the future because picked them up when we saw the bargains. The first item is a tshirt which I picked up for 50p. It is actually a Disney tshirt which has Tinkerbell on. This is one which we are going to using as this one for nursery. Due to the price the we do not mind if it does get ruined by some paint or other things which they use at nursery. This is a couple of sizes too big however, it does like it may have been shrunk previously. I can see Jess wearing this very soon.

Another item which I picked up from the same seller is this dress. It is actually from H&M and cost me £3 which is a little bit more than I usually would pay. I thought this is a beautiful dress which could be worn with tights or even plain leggings. This is one which would start off as something which she would wear at home. No doubt at some stage this will end up been a nursery dress as well. I think the simple monochrome and the checked just works it is something which I can see myself wearing.

The final item which I picked up from the same stall is this minion t shirt which of course, I am going to put away. We always say that Jess is a cheeky one so having a top which says santa I can explain on it is perfect.  This is something which is going to get a bit of wear from in December. I do not like spending a lot of money on seasonal pieces. This again is a couple of sizes to big because then this allows Jess some growing room because we do not want it to fit too early. Again this was 50p so I not too bothered if she does not get around to wearing it. I can always resell it to someone who it will be more suitable.

Dungaree’s are something which Jess loved in last summer. I also actually saw these on another stall and I knew I could not leave them. This is actually size 6-7 but they do look like they have been shrunk because they do not loo way to big for her. These are from F&F which we know is a good quality they tend to wash really well. Jess is going to get a lot of wear. I paid £2 for these even if we do not get a really hot summer she will be able to team these with tights on a weekend. I have paid £10 for a new pair of dungaree’s in Primark so it does show that you can pick up bargains preloved.

As I have mentioned on some of the previous preloved that Jess loves jigsaws. We managed to pick up this Little Miss Puzzle Multipack. The lady said they have never been used. There is actually 10 jigsaws in the box which is amazing. This means that it is going to keep her busy for a long time which is always a bonus. They range up to 100 pieces which is going to be hard for her but this is what we want. She has been going through jigsaws at a rate of knots recently. We only paid £5 this would have been a lot more expensive brand new. There is going to be hours of fun here for Jess. We pick jigsaws up as and when we see them because you never know when the weather is going to turn and she needs entertaining.

The final two items are something different to which we would not usually pick up. I saw them to be honest I thought they were adorable. They are these Eeyore and Tigger soft cuddly toys. These are not actually for Jess we have purchase them for. I know that in the future we are likely to make Jess a big sister so we purchased these ready. They were 50p each and I could not leave them for this price. We do not have any plans on expanding the family yet so we will be storing them for a while.

Have you purchased anything preloved this month? If so let me know what you got in the comments below.

Preloved Finds March 2019

As you may remember I am trying to be conscious to purchase more preloved items. I think that people do not realise how much we do waste. Jess grows out of toys and clothes very quickly I do sell a lot of her clothes which are in good condition. Sometimes I do manage to sell toys as well if I think that they are worth it. Usually, I sell on eBay then things which are not perfect end up in the charity shop. Usually when in there we look if there is anything else we would like. We have had toys and games for a fraction of their RRP.  EBay is somewhere were I get items which I think are going to be perfect for nursery. As we need clothes we do not mind getting a little bit ruined. Shopping preloved for us is to save items ending up in landfill and to save us some pennies.

If you did not see what we have picked up in January and February I have linked them here for you. We only visited one charity shop in our town this month. I think we did go a couple of times though due to the amount of stuff I had to donate. I have been trying to have a bit of a clearout. Passing on some clothes which we no longer wear and things like that. We did, however, manage to find some really nice pieces while we were in there for Jess.  I hope you enjoy seeing what we managed to pick up in this preloved month.

The first item which you may notice is a toaster. As you may know, Jess got a kitchen for Christmas and has been using it ever since. There was a toaster in there and this is something which Jess does not have. To be honest, as soon as she saw it she picked it up and wanted it.  I knew she would get a lot of use out of it. She makes us a lot of food so I could not say no.  It was only 50p which is super cheap after all I can now have eggs on toast. Playstyle of course, when we got it home we found out it originally was from B&M.  She has used this so much and we will be keeping an eye out for more play food and toys to go with her kitchen.

The next few items which I picked up are all Disney related books. I purchased Jess some books for Christmas because we do read to her every single night. Recently I have donated some books which have been too babyish for her. I first picked up this Wall-E book which is a film Jess watched around Christmas time. So she knows who the characters in it. I picked up a range of different Disney books for her at Christmas. They are a little bit longer and it is something which she is starting to get into. Of course, this is a book which I am going to have to read her. It may actually take her a couple of bedtimes to get the whole story due to its length. I will be keeping my eye out for anymore preloved Disney books because they are a classic and will last.  They can always be passed down if we should have more children as well this Wall-E book was only 50p.

The next Disney book is one which is from the Disney Fairies. It may have come from the same people as we purchase the last ones which came with the CD and Book. I thought that this would be amazing to add to Jess’ collection of this kind of books because they will last. It is actually the story of Tinkerbell and this is not something which I even know the story of.  The artwork in this book is actually amazing I could not believe how amazing it is. I think this is one which I am going to keep back from Jess’ collection until I get rid of a few more books. Her bookshelf at the moment is very full.  I do like being able to put the CD’s on while she is playing in her room. This book was only £1 I am going to keep my eye out for more of these preloved  Disney CD and Books.

The final book which I picked up is the Disney Read me a story this has 24 different stories.  For sure, this is going to be lasting us a long time as you can see it is very thick. I will only be reading one story a night even when we do get around to starting this book.  It seems to have all of the classics in as well as some newer things.  You can tell by the back of this book that it is one which has been loved very much but this is one which we are going to end up loving even more. Again there are stories which I do not even know in this book which means I get to hear new stories. I am sure for a little Disney fan like Jess she is going to love this. It was only £2 which I do not think is that expensive considering how much this would have been new.  But we are going to give it a good home for a while.

Of course, it would not be one of these updates without having jigsaws in them. Jess is still in love with them so we are always needing some more.  So this we picked up this one which is a little miss one which is part of the mister men series. We actually choose this one because we think it may be a little bit harder for her because it does have 45 pieces. This is a little bit more than the ones which she has been doing. This is one which is actually in her collection at the moment but I do not think that she has had time to play it yet. I am hoping that this is one which she is going to be able to do for a while. Even if it doesn’t I am sure she will have a lot of fun playing it, to be honest.  For 50p I could not leave this behind for our jigsaw fan.

We picked up another one which is actually Cars which is a film which she has now seen. She got some lightening McQueen toys for Christmas and seems to have been on about it since. So when we saw this we had to pick it up. It may not be as hard for her because this is actually only 35 pieces. I know she can complete this many because we actually have sent a Peppa one which was of the same size back to the charity shop. She saw lightning McQueen and with the background, I do think this could be a little bit harder than the Peppa one. Again for the small sum of 50p and helping a charity, it did have to come home with us.  Once she can do it very easily without any help and quickly I think I will redonate it back.

Games are something which we have been playing on a night after nursery and we had started to get bored with the same ones. We needed some more in order to be able to rotate them. When we were in the charity shop we noticed that there was this box of Thomas toys which when we got home found had never been played with. This is always a bonus. It does actually have two games however, they are back to back on the board. The first one is like snakes and ladders a game we already own and love to play.  The other is one which we have not played before it is almost like Ludo because you have to go around the board and go from the start and get back to a point. However, you do have to collect 4 pieces in order to be able to get back to the start. You can only get them if you actually land on the space. This is a fun game which we have been playing and I am sure we will get more love out of.  These two games were actually £1.50 which is great when they are not preloved they are brand new in a charity shop.

The final thing which we picked up this month is Tumble Tower. Since looking at this more we have found that it is a B&M version of Kerplunk which I am sure most of us played when we were a child. We decided that it was a game which Jess may enjoy because this is something which she has never played before. We have only played this a couple of times because it is a bit of a pain to set up. I think this is a game which we will play more when the weather is rubbish. Because it does take a little bit of time to set up and we do not have much time after doing nursery before bed.  For sure this is one which is going to last us a long time as well. This is something I look at when picking up games. This game as you may be able to see cost us £1.75 my limit is around £2.

What have you picked up preloved this month?

Preloved Finds February 2018

This month we had a lot from the charity shop there was so much good stuff in there. This could have been because people have been having a clearout after this Christmas.  I am hoping to share every month what we have been picking up. If you have not seen what we picked up in January have a look here.  Jess managed to get some amazing bargains as we went in a fair few charity shops this month. Usually, we only go once or twice a month so we do not end up with too much in the house.  We are always trying to declutter because we always want more space.

The first couple of items which picked up are some Orchard Toys there a brand which we love. There so educational, however,  they are so fun and we can play them as a family after nursery.  The first one which we picked up is Dotty Dinosaurs which was only 50p which I think it is a steal. The reason why is because one of the dice is missing however, this does not affect play. I have been since told if you contact Orchard Toys they will replace missing parts which is amazing. This game is simple you pick a board which is dinosaur shaped you roll the dice which has all different shapes on . Then the one it lands on is the one which you can add to your dinosaur. It also has a colours version of this but we do not have the colour dice.  We have had so much fun playing this game since we got it. Hopefully are going to be getting the replacement dice very soon.

The other Orchard Toys game which we did pick Doodlebugs which is almost like a child’s version of UNO.  This is one which can take a long time so beware because your child may get bored Jess can when we play this.   I think it is going to be one which we are going to let a lot of play out of. This is one which she can play when she becomes a bit older too.  I think I prefer uno to this one as you do not always get a winner this is something which we have had in the past.  For £1.50 you can not go wrong because of the fact that these games can be up to £7-9. I know this has been played but this does not affect our joy.  I will be looking out for more Orchard Toys because we do have so much fun playing these. We do not see many of the Orchard Toys second hand because they are so loved.

The other item which we picked up from the same charity shop is a box of Frozen jigsaws. As you may know, Jess does love doing jigsaws because this is something which she can do on her own.  We do offer her help if she needs it she manages to a lot of them super fast.  Jess does actually complete the 35 ones now.  So we have had to pick up some of the harder ones. We got this Frozen boxset which has a 35, 50, 70 and also 100 these should keep her happy for longer.  I think these are going to be a lot harder and we are going to have to help her do these as they look so much harder.  These only cost us £2.50 which I think is cheap as they are Disney I expect they are around £5-10 in stores.

In another charity shop, we managed to pick up some more jigsaws for Jess which were Disney.  As you can see these Jigsaws actually have 10 in 1 box and are  Princess themed. The princess seem to be something Jess is getting into more as she gets older.  These are only 25 pieces however, the backgrounds of these are hard. I am sure she is going to have to ask for help she did last time we had them out. This is great because it gives us some time together and they will last a while. I was more amazed all of the pieces where actually there for the price we paid. We only spent £1 on all 10 of these. Some of them were also still bagged which was amazing. We are going to have so much fun with these which is a bonus when they are not costing the earth.

Jess is Paw Patrol mad which means that sometimes we do have to watch it. However, it is not always on the TV  which can be a pain when she is demanding it is not on Youtube.  So when I found these I knew I had to pick up these DVD’s. Jess is going to get so much use of this because of how she loves it. These are ones which she does not have on DVD already which is shocking. She has so many of these I managed to pick £1 each for these DVD’s.   These usually are around the £3-4 mark when you see them in Home Bargains and B&M.  These will be great for when she wants a movie day because you can pause as they are episodes.  She does not have the attention span yet for a complete movie which is a little bit of a shame. I am going to be keeping an eye out for any more paw patrol things because it is something Jess loves and has for a while. However, I am unsure how much longer she is actually going to be a huge fan of the show.

I think this month we managed to go a little bit jigsaw crazy  we picked up 4 more jigsaws for her to play with.  The easiest one I guess you could say with 35 pieces is a Peppa pig one. This is one which Jess loved but she claimed at the end of the month that it has become too easy. For us this is then when we know it is time for it to find a new home.  We actually took this back to the charity shop one weekend.  Jess was repeatedly doing this one on her own with no help in a few minutes. I am so proud of how good she is at them . We actually only paid 50p and ot gave her a few hours of fun.

We also picked up a Minnie Mouse jigsaw which is a 50 piece jigsaw hopefully she is going to be able to keep this for a long time.  This does look like there is a lot of background colours which are the same this is going to mean that it is going to be a lot harder for her. She always needs a challenge because this is going to push her. She has not tried this one yet so I am sure that she is going to have enough fun when she finally does get it.  This is going to be perfect for those days when we get home from nursery and she wants to do something. Or on a weekend when the weather is pretty rubbish this is going to be great.

Another jigsaw which Jess picked up is another Disney Fairies which is a 42 piece. This again looks like on which is one which could last for a while because it is harder than some of the ones which she currently owns. Disney is something which she seems to be getting into more and more. I can only see this getting stronger and stronger.. Again this is a steal at only 50p because these are more expensive than this in the stores. There is a wide range of colours on there which is something which Jess is going to love. I do not think this one is going to be too hard for her but she many need some help.

The other jigsaw which we did pick up was a Doc McStuffin jigsaw which is another Disney show. This is not one which we have actually seen so I don’t know the characters. It is a 42 piece jigsaw I am unsure how hard she will actually find this one. If it is too easy it can go back to the charity on one of trips.  If it is a little bit too hard we can work together on this. This jigsaw is one which she doesn’t currently have access to because I have to keep some back.  In case we can not replace the ones which we have already completed for example and we would not have enough space.

Cooking books is something else I like to pick up because they are so much cheaper than paying the RRP. It also allows us to get new recipes which I then can come and share on my meal inspiration Mondays.  The two which we have picked up are the Hairy Bikers Dieters for Life this has a lot which we have made from it. These have a lot of recipes which are healthy which is amazing because this is something which we are trying to do.  I actually picked this book up for £1.50 which is super cheap because it would have been at least £10 when it was brand new.

The other one is a takeaway book which has all the classics in which you order it is so much cheaper and we find a lot of pleasure in cooking meals which we have never done before. There is a hell of a lot less calories which is good for people losing weight but still wanting treats.  This is one which we have made a few recipes from since we have owned it I would recommend this book if you can get your hands on it.  There is so many recipes which I want to make as a result of this book. It cost us £1.50 and for sure it is one which we will be getting more use out of. I am going to keep my eye out for more of these cooking books.

Another item which I picked up is a boxset of books from Next. These are actually baking books which is something I love to do as well. There is three in this set which include Gorgeous Cakes, Chocolate Treats and Cupcakes Mini Bakes. These are going to be amazing when I want some inspiration. Usually, I find a lot of the inspiration on Pinterest however, sometimes there is nothing better than having an actual book. I for sure will let you know when I have made something using this book with all this rainy weather I can see if been soon. I picked up this boxset for £2.50 which is a little bit more than I usually pay however, it is for charity.

What have you picked up preloved this month?

Preloved Finds January 2018

Charity shops are places which amaze me there are sometimes no better places I love visiting more. The majority of them are so reasonably priced you manage to pick up some amazing bargins. Sometimes I get some books which I want to read other times things for Jess. You really never know what you are going to find. This year I am on a conscious effort to try and get things preloved if I can. I do not want to add to the ever growing pollution problem and also it can help me save some important dollar.

I decided that every month I am going to try and share with you some of the items that month which I have picked up preloved. These may be from the charity shop, Facebook , eBay or even other places. I am always interested to see what people have been picking up preloved and this is something which I thought I would start doing as well.

Jigsaws

The items which I am going to share with you are ones which we actually picked up in December. I have been meaning to share them for the longest time but just have not got around to it. The first items which I am going to share is a Peppa Pig jigsaw this was one which had 3 different puzzles within it. Jigsaws are something which Jess loves to do however, they can be very pricey. Usually, they are around the £6 mark instead this we actually paid 50p for this. This is something which Jess has had so much fun with and she can complete this one without any help. We since have donated this back to the charity shop as it became so easy for Jess. She is always happy to pass on toys to new boys and girls as she know she is likely to get another new toy.

We also managed to pick up another jigsaw which was Sofia the First. This is something which she has never seen the show. This is a 35 piece which means that it is harder than some of the other ones which she owns. I have a feeling that the swirl area is going to make this one a bit harder. Of course, this is something which we want because you never want them to be too easy. I have had to give her a little bit of help when we have done this jigsaw so I think this is going to be one which we are going to have it for a while, to be honest. Again this one was the bargain price of 50p which is crazy cheap for a Disney jigsaw.

Another game Jigsaw type of game which we picked up was this match it game. This is something which of course, Jess is going to grow into rather than actually be able to play now as such. You match the word to the picture so if you see eyes you have to find the eye word. This is going to help her learn so much we have played this a couple of times and found the ones which she knows. I also ask Jess to point to the part of her body as well. This game was only 50p as well so it is one which we know that we are going to have so much fun with. For sure it is one which we will be keeping for a long time because it will help her to learn.

Books

Books are something which Jess adores. Sometimes on a weekend she loves to go upstairs and have a CD on while she plays. I have found Disney books which come with CD perfect. They read the story and you can read along with them if this is something which you wish to do. I managed to pick a range of them up from the Charity shop a few months ago. So when we went in and they had Peter Pan, Little Mermaid and Tangled. I knew Jess did not have these and they are something which would be a great addition. These books are £1 each but of course, they have the CD which makes them a bit more expensive. As they are Disney I know that they are going to be in our home for a very long time.

Orchard toys are a company which we adore we have had so many of their games. Which have provided us with hours of fun over the last year or so. So when I spotted a couple in the charity shop I knew I had to pick them up. The first one which we snatched up was Old McDonald Lotto. You have to get all of the animals on your card like normal lotto. However, it does allow your child to learn their animals and this is something which Jess has loved to do.

The other game which I purchased for Jess is Round and Round. This is a game which you have to go around the board picking passengers up on your bus before actually getting back to the bus garage. I know this is another game which we are going to end up having hours of fun with. Jess is already super competitive at it so I can see the arguments when she does not win. I think I paid a maximum of £3 for both of these games . For sure they are going to be loved fwhile the cold weather is still here.

What preloved bargains have you picked up recently?
