Books I Have Read January 2020

Today I am back sharing the books which I have read in the month of January. It is the start of a new year and this does not mean I am any less motivated to read. You can see what I have been reading in the month of November and December. I am aiming to read 24 books again this year however, of course having a newborn baby I am unsure how doable this is going to be. So on to the books which I have managed to finish in January 2020.

Chasing Daisy By Paige Toon 4/5 Stars

Plot– If you fall too fast, you just might crash…Daisy has been dumped, unceremoniously jilted. Not by any ordinary guy, no. Daisy has a secret in her past that she won’t even tell her best friend, Holly. She’s given up on men – and on her own family. But life still has to be lived and where better to recover than as far away from home as possible. Grabbing a chance to see the world, Daisy packs her bags and joins the team catering to the world’s highest-paid, supercharged racing drivers on the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. From Brazil to Italy, from Melbourne to Monte Carlo, life passes in a dizzying whirlwind. But nothing – and no one – can stop Daisy from falling again…this time for a man who is prepared to risk his life, and his heart, for the sake of speed, danger and ultimate success.

My thoughts-  F1 is a sport which I love so I thought that this book would be perfect. A chick lit which includes F1 and for sure I was not disappointed with this book. It has been on my to be read pile for less than a couple of months. This was a quick read which I managed to squeeze it when I had free time. I would recommend picking this up for the beach though.

There is not too much I can say about this book without giving some spoilers. For sure I did not see the twist which comes in the middle of the book coming. Usually I can work out what is going to happen. It made me want too cry however, that could just be the hormones at the moment. As a result of this twist I did not see the ending happening either. For sure this has made me want to read some more Paige Toon books because I really enjoy them.

Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas By Adam Kay 5/5 Stars

Plot–  Poignant and entertaining story of the life of a junior doctor at the most challenging time of the year. With twenty-five tales of intriguing, shocking and incredible Christmas incidents, the British public will finally appreciate the sacrifices made and the challenges faced by the unsung heroes of the NHS.

My Thoughts- This is a book which I have been wanting to read since it actually came out. I have one complaint about this book for sure it is not long enough. It is under 150 pages which is only a slither of a book. There is elements which will make you laugh out loud. For sure it does not have as many laughs as Adam Kay’s first book. It does give you respect for the NHS and all they have to sacrifice over the festive period to keep us all safe. For sure this is a book which I would recommend I would love Adam Kay to write more because he has a great writing style which I find enjoyable. I even managed to read this book in a couple of days. Since I have passed it on to my Mum so that she can enjoy it.

I have actually end up reading half of another book but as I have not finished it. The review for it  will come in next months round up. I am actually amazed that I have managed to have to finish two books. While we have been adapting to live with Troy and I do not have as much spare time as I did before. Hopefully I will be able to keep up this pace and I might be able to finish the same amount of books as last year.

What books have you managed to finish recently?
