Books I Have Read In September 2019

Today I am back sharing the books which I have read in the month of September. I love been able to look on the books which I have read in previous months. Hopefully it can give some of you inspiration on books which you may want to read as well. I know I get so much inspiration for new books from others. I have currently only done two of these one in May and one in August. However, I want to try and do them monthly if it is possible. So on to the books which I have had my head in this month.

Late Night Talking by Leslie Schnur 2/5 Stars

Plot– Every night on her show, Sterling Behavior, Jennie Sterling vents with her listeners about rude mobile phone users, poor gym etiquette, and other annoyances of modern life. When New York mogul Nicholas Moss buys the station. She is pushed to increase the ratings and goes too far, risking the loss of everything important to her.

My Thoughts–  I will admit that I did not love this book. It is one which has been on my bookcase to read for a long time and I thought I would give it a go. The viewpoint switches a lot and sometimes it’s hard to tell where you are until the second paragraph. This may have just been me though. I felt like I did not connect to any of the characters and was waiting for the big plot twist which never came. The ending was very predictable as well I think I guessed it before half way though. Late Night Talking is an OK book but for sure is not the best best chic lit.

Last Chance By Sarah Dessen 3/5 Stars

Plot– Colie doesn’t expect her trip to the North Carolina coast to change a thing. But when she finds a job being a  waitress at the Last Chance cafe. She also finds acceptance, new friends and the beginnings of romance.

My Thoughts– This is a book which I have had on my to be read list for such a long time. I think I purchased it when I preferred young adult books. This book is not one of my favourites for a couple of reasons the first there is a lot of fat-shaming and slut-shaming and girl-hate and just really horrendous unjustified nonsensical bullying along the way. The book seemed to end so quickly like it was almost rushed. The main character of this book was very annoying she seemed think she was better than anyone else in the book.

The Bridesmaid Pact By Julia Williams 4/5 Stars

Plot– One for all and all for one! As children, Sarah, Dorrie, Beth and Caz were inseparable and vowed to one day be each others bridesmaids. But life got complicated. Now they have one last chance to fulfil their promise.

My Thoughts-  This is a book which I thought was going to be really easy to read and all about weddings. There are some weddings within the book. However, the story is more about four friends coming back together after strained relationships with each other. There is almost 4 stories going on within this book some could have done with expanding a little bit more. But for a book under 400 pages this is expected with 4 huge story lines. The ending you could have guessed from about 3/4 of the way through the book thought. I wanted there to be a plot twist. I thought the jumping between years and not getting to know some of the characters was a bit annoying. Overall I enjoyed this book and would read more by Julia Williams in the future.

Me Before You By JoJo Moyes 5/5 Stars

Plot–  Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he’s going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time.

My Thoughts- For sure this is not a romantic novel despite how the cover may look. This is an emotional book it had me close to tears at several stages rarely does a book have the ability to do this to me. I do not want to give too much away in case you have not read the book if you have not you really need to. The characters Will and Lou are amazing for me I felt like I really contected to them both. I did not want the book to end for sure because I felt like I connected to them both. This is a book which I could not actually put down I wanted to know what happened to Will. For sure I am going to have to get my hands on the other books in this series. I now this is not a book which I am going to forget in a while.

What books have you managed to finish this month?
