Life Is Making My Hair Fall Out

Recently I have been having so much stress I am sure that it is making my hair fall out. If it is not the stress of having to hand my university undergraduate dissertation in on time, on top of having other assignments.  Of course, I have the crazy toddler who can have tantrums which mean that I actually want to scream and pull my hair out. I keep joking that my hair is always falling out due to my hair aways molting. I shed more than your average dog I think I might have two coats like a pug.  I have googled it and found out it is normal to lose 50-100 strands of hair per day anyway so I guess I am normal.

I thought today I would share with you some of the stories which have left me wanting to pull my hair out. Some are Jess related stories and some are non-parenting related.

One day we were sat on the train home which is very normal for us. Nursery had taken Jess’s vest off which mean that she only had a top on nothing underneath she managed to get her arms out of the straps on the pushchair and then take her top off. I think I was busy reading a book or something similar so I did not realised that my child had become a stripper and was now topless. It was pretty embarrassing because she kept shouting so that people would look at her and she managed to do this a couple of times on the same day.  It’s safe to say that the straps have now well and truly been tightened meaning she can’t do this again.

I think it’s safe to say that Jess has selective hearing and she chooses to hear what she wants. For example, if I have told her we are doing something on a set day or we have a treat she can have when we get home she will not forget and will repeat it several times till she gets it. Once I swear she mentioned getting sweets when we got home constantly for a couple of hours. It does make me not want to tell her she is going to get something nice before we are at home.

I am someone who wears a lot of vest tops no matter if it is the winter or the summer. Jess has a habit to pull the neckline of them down which has meant that she has several times she has exposed my bra and boobs to other people. This has been embarrassing because it always occurs at times when we are in public. I am sure more than enough people have seen my boobs and including people who have not wanted to which is never nice.

Another thing which makes me want to tear my hair out is the fact that Joe will find out that he is going away with work however, plans can change right up till the day they go. Even when he is away things can change for example the day he is coming back can be put back days/ weeks which means that we can not plan anything. This is something which is very annoying and means that we can not be a normal family.

People asking me when I am going to either get married or have another child is something which makes me want to pull my hair out as well. Just because I have a child who is coming up to 3 does not mean that I want another one at the moment or because of the fact that I have been dating someone for a period of time we want to tie the knot. At the moment the focus is on getting a family house so we can feel like we are more of a complete family than we do at the moment and this is something which is annoying.

I hate the way my hair is falling out or sheding a lot at the moment and if it does not improves I can see me having to take action. Recently been looking at the hair transplant cost at the Harley Street Hair Clinic, as I feel I may need some serious help from them if things don’t start to improve for me soon. After all, I need princess’ hair in case we do get married in the future for the wedding pictures.

What makes you want to tear your hair out?

Tips For First Trip to Cinema

Going to the cinema is something which Joe and I love to do. We regularly go when there is a new marvel film out but trips to the cinema are less frequent since having Jess of course. This weekend saw Jess attend the cinema for the first time she actually went to see the new Thomas the Tank film, so today I thought I would share with you some tips to make sure that a cinema trip with a toddler goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Be Prepared

Cinema snacks can be expensive and your toddler will want everything. A tip which I would recommend no matter the age of your child is to take snacks and a drink. This is something which you allowed to do an can save you a small fortune. We did purchase Jess some popcorn and an ice blast because it was her first trip but we took some other drinks and sweets so she did not become hungry.

2. Start with a kids club showing

Many cinemas do kids club showings which occur at the weekend around 10am. This means that it is not nap time for toddlers like Jess meaning that they are not too tired and are going to fall asleep in the screening. Another bonus is that kids club usually are a little bit cheaper with some only been £1 for children which is a hell of a lot cheaper than a normal child’s ticket to the cinema.

3. Sit somewhere accessible

You will want to sit somewhere accessible this means should your child need the toilet during the film you can just pop out. It also means if your child wants to sit on the stairs they can this is something Jess did because I think she got a little bit restless during the film because she had been sat there for 2 hours, even though it was only a hour and half film.

4. Check if the cinema have booster seats

There is nothing worse than paying for your child to go the cinema and then them not been able to see. This could be due to the fact there is a tall person in front of them by your child having a booster seat this will allow them to see over the person or chair in front. If the cinema does not have the booster seats like the one we attended why not take a cushion or a pillow for them to sit on so they are raised up.

5. Don’t be afraid to leave

We all know that small children do not have an amazing span do not be afraid to leave. If your child is making too much noise and you feel like it is impacting other peoples cinema experience. If your child is really not enjoying the film what is the point of staying and forcing them to watch something which they are not enjoying it may make them think negatively of the cinema and they may not want to return. You never know that if your child is ready to go the cinema so do not be afraid if you do have to leave.

6. Pick the right film

Just because it is a children’s film does not mean that it is right for your childs. Of course, you know them best but some films can be too old for certain children for example I would not want to take Jess to a film which is over an hour and half. The reason behind this is I do not think that she has the attention span. I would not want to take her to a film which I think could be too sad for her for example something like the Lion King or Paddington.I know cinemas from time to time show films like Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol and Thomas these are good to give your a toddler good first experience. If you have taken them before and they did not enjoy it this could be a viewing to take them to next.

What are you tips for taking a toddler to the cinema?

Days Out- Hull Explorer

It is not often you get to be a tourist in your own city, recently I was contacted by East Yorkshire.  Seeing if I would like to review their back for 2018 open top bus tour in Hull called the Hull Explorer.  Jess and I actually managed to go on the bus on one of the hottest days of the year which meant she wanted to sit in the shade in order to make sure she was not poorly.

The bus tour lasts between 80-90 minutes depending on traffic of course, and it a hop on hop off bus service. You learn so much about the history of the city of Hull, see parts which you may never have seen even as a local there was parts I had not been to in a long time. Due to the bus been hop on hop off it does mean that you can get off for drinks or have a closer look at some of the sites of Hull. This is something which we did not have the option of doing due to the fact it was a training day we attended but this is for sure something which I would do if I went back on the Hull explorer.  I think on a nice day getting of the bus and having some drinks down Humber Street and the Marina would be very nice and refreshing.

While you are on board the Hull Explorer you will have a very knowledgeable guide who will enlighten you about the story of Hull. Also some of the landmarks which it is home to.  I actually learn so much on the bus, for example, the reason why the city is called Kingston upon Hull is that it was the second biggest port outside of London.  So it was the king’s town upon the River Hull.  I also learned that Hull has a statue to King Billy who is the one who brought Gin to England so I think we owe so much to him.

On the tour you get to see places such as Queen Victoria square which is home to the city hall, and the maritime museum. This is along with the statue of Queen Victoria who sits above the public toilets. This allows you to see some of the old buildings despite being in the city center close to all of the shops.  This would be a great place to get on or off if you want to browse the shops or learn more about Hull’s fishing history.

Just around the corner from the Queen Victoria Square there are queens gardens as I said it was a very nice day there was a lot of people enjoying the sun. This would be a great spot to grab some lunch or having a drink. These are beautiful fountains and around the back, there is a huge pond which you could enjoy. This is close to be two of the old docks in Hull and close by in Beverley gate you can see some of the remains. The King was locked out of the city by the people during the start of the English Civil War.

High street is another place where you get to visit on the Hull explorer. This recently had been filmed as the streets of London in Victoria the hit tv show. This is still home to some of the old warehouses which used to be used by the fisherman when Hull was still a thriving fishing port.  This is a cobbled street so it can be pretty bumpy when you are on the Hull Explorer.

The marina is another stop which the you will get to visit, this is very close to Humber Street. Both areas have been redeveloped as a result of the city of culture this is a thriving area with a lot of bars and restaurants.  This for sure is an area which you should get off and spend some time around there is some amazing ice cream areas.

There are other amazing areas which you visit including:

  • Cenotaph
  • Wilberforce Monument
  • Museums Quarter
  • Hull Minster
  • The Deep

This year, Hull Explorer runs for every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7 July until 2 September.  This means there is plenty of time this summer to explore more about the city of Hull.  The Hull Explorer is not expensive with adult day tickets at £8, students and OAps’s £6 and children £5. Those who are under 5 are free and a family ticket can be purchased for just £21.

Conclusion

I would recommend visiting Hull and going on the Hull Explorer I learn so much on this tour. Jess enjoyed seeing some of the different cities around the city however, it may have been due to the heat that she got fed up. However, we she is only 2. I would recommend going on this tour even if you are a local because it is always good to learn more about your own city.

Have you ever been to Hull if so what did you think?

Review- My Personalised Case

Taking photo is something which has been a passion of mine since I have had Jess. I must have over 2000 pictures of her if not more, however, displaying them is something which I fail to do but then I remembered that I could have a personalised phone case with one of my images.  I thought this was a subtle way of having Jess with me at all times.

Phone cases  protect your phone from drops and knocks now and they are a good way of showing your personality and art work. I used to change my phone case a lot but I think I have only had 1 in the last 18 months since I got my iPhone 7.

I have never had a personalised phone case before I have always had just a bog standard one from either the high street or Amazon.  It is now so easy to be able to have anything personalised I have done it for members of my family a gift.  A personalised case is something which I can see me purchasing for my family this year because they always have their phones on them and want to protect them from breaking.

When I found My Personalised Case I could not believe how cheap they were because I know when you start customizing items it can become very expensive. However, the one which I have actually only come in at around the £12 mark which is not going to break the bank and is considerably lower than some of them which I have had in the past.  I decided to choose the full hard case because this would give my phone more protection when either me or Jess drop it.

I found the website so easy to use and could customise my design as much as I wanted. Sometimes I have found it very hard to be able to get what I want when I have a vision in my head.  All you have to do is choose the phone or tablet which you want the case for. There are so many different types including Samsung and Apple you are sure to find the phone you are looking for.  They also have a number of styles which you can have for example silicon, hand shell, and even wallet options.

When personalising the case you can either add one photo or several and make a collage and even add text like I have chosen to do.  For sure you can have a lot of fun playing around with the site but it is so simple when I had finalised my design all I had to do is add payment and shipping details, this was the most simple part of creating my personalised phone case.

I seem to remember that my case arrived within 3 days which was amazing as you never want to have to wait.  When I got my hands on it I realised how hard wearing the case is and it seems like it is made to a high quality. There is no chance of my phone falling out of my phone case or it breaking which is something you want from a phone case.

I have had my phone case on for a month now  I wanted to give it a real test. My phone has been dropped several times due to me and Jess. I can not feel any scratches which have occurred as a result of the drops which is amazing as usually, I can on phone cases.   Jess loves getting hold of my phone and saying Mummy it’s me.

Conclusion

The quality of these cases are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a personalised case you can make your own phone case so easy and stand out. They are so cheap compared to others on the market and you are not compromising on the quality. This for sure is a company who I would recommend if you are looking for a personalised phone case I know when I upgrade in November I will be purchasing another one

What photo or design would you get if you got a personalised case

Understanding The Language of Formula One

Formula one is a sport which I have always enjoyed watching, however in recent years I may not have seen may races to live on tv for several reasons. This upcoming weekend is the British GP which means there is going to be more casual viewers watching. So today I thought I would share with you some language which you may hear the commentators say or on the team radios because after all if you are watching the race you want to understand what is going on. Including the tatics and tyre talk

Aerodynamics-

This is the amount of airflow over and around an object this is what sets the design of the car most cars do look the same in order to have the same amount of air flow.

Apex-

This is the middle point of the inside line around a corner at which drivers aim their cars. This is the best racing line so most drivers do want to be here.

Blistering-

This is usually one which we hear in races which are undertaken in hot countries but with the heatwave which is hitting Britain at the moment, it could be something which we see over the weekend. It basically means part of the tyre is overheating which causes the rubber to become soft and break away in sections away from the car. There are a few reasons why this may occur is can be due to the car having the wrong set of tyres, for example, being too soft or the pressure is not correct. This can impact many drivers several times during the season affect their race as they need to apply fresh tyres.

Chassis-

This is one which you hear regular this is the main body of the car which is made of carbon fiber this is attached to the engine and the suspension. Damage to the chassis could see the end of a driver’s race and there is usually debris of the chassis along the track after a collision.

Chicane-

A tight sequence of corners which are in alternate directions. Usually designed into a circuit to slow the cars, often just before what had been a high-speed corner. This can be an area in which the cars lose control due to the fact that they have a lapse in concentration.

Compound-

This is the part of the tyre in contact with the road which is a major factor in deciding tyre performance. Each tyre is made up of at least ten ingredients which can change depending on the compound these could be to a different degree which explains why you get different compound tires like soft, medium.

Drive-through penalty-

This is one of the penalties which can be given to the drivers during the race. In this penalty the driver has to enter the pit lane, making sure they comply with the speed limit then they have to rejoin the race without stopping.

DRS-

This stands for Drag Reduction System which rear wings allow the driver to adjust the wing between two pre-determined settings from the cockpit. This is only allowed when the driver is less than one second behind another car at set points on the track. This is to boost overtaking and give us better races, it stops when the driver does brake

Graining-

When a car slides, it can cause little bits or rubber to come away from the tyre’s.  The style of the driver, track conditions, fuel load and the tyre its self can play a role in graining. The more a car moves on the track the more likely that graining is going to occur,

Lock-up

This is when the driver brakes sharply locking one or more tyres while the others rotate. If a driver is going this you usually can see tyre smoke coming from the wheels.

Sectors-

For timing purposes, the lap is split into three sections, each of which is roughly a third of the lap. These sections are officially known as Sector 1, Sector 2 and Sector 3.

Slipstreaming

This is an important driving tactic which is when a driver is able to catch the car ahead and duck in behind its rear wing to benefit from a reduction in drag over its body to gain maximum speed and an advantage. To find out more about slipstreaming click here

Traction-

The amount of pressure the car is able to transfer its power onto the track surface for forwarding progress.

Tyre compound-

The type of rubber mix used in the construction of a tyre, ranging from soft through medium to hard, with each offering a different performance and wear characteristic.

I hope this helped if you are going to watch the F1 for the first time in a while this weekend.

Goals For Rest Of 2018

How the hell is it already July, I swear this year is going on double time. It’s is going that quickly that I am going to have a 3-year-old in just a couple of months which is scary she was only born like two moments. I am one of those people who always have to have goals which I can achieve because to me it then feels like I can progress and how much I have improved and come in a period of time.

Today I am going to set myself some goals to have achieved in the in the six months up until then. I am. It going to make all blog related some are going to be easier than others due to the fact I don’t want to feel like a failure if I do not achieve anything

The first one is something which I hope will look achieve soon is moving into our first family house. I can not wait till we have our own space because it going to be perfect not having to think about where we are going to be staying where is easier. Along with when I have to stay at home because Joe is away meaning that I don’t stay with him.

As you might have read I didn’t get on to my masters this year. This means that I am applying for jobs having a job in the sports or Heath industries is something which may help actually achieve my goal of getting on my masters in the future. Been unemployed is not something I want long term it is something which I didn’t exactly enjoy when I had a year off following having Jess.

Of course, something else which I really want to achieve is to complete trailwalker which is the 100km challenge which I undertake in less than 2 weeks time. Even if I do not actually complete the whole distance I am so proud that I have managed to raise at least £600 for charity if you would like to donate you can here.  Every single pound is going to help ease my blisters which I am going to obtain.  It is a crazy challenge which I am sure I am going to enjoy as well as hate at certain points regret my decision.

I would love to work with some more brands this year I do have a list of brands which I would love to work with this for the rest of the year. This is not something which I am going to share for now. I have managed to work with some amazing brands already and I would love to collaborate with them again and some new brands in the rest of the year.

I would love to be able to grow my social media at the moment I have 147 followers on my facebook. This is something which I would love to grow to up to 175 this would mean that I have to work more on my page as at the moment I would say it is the social which I neglect the most.  Twitter is one which I used to love and have close to 1500 followers I am @cupsofcharlotte  over there I would love to gain 1750 if this is possible. So if you do not already follow me I would love if you come over and follow me. Instagram is the one which I am growing on the most at the moment I currently have around 925 followers and would love maybe to have 1250 by the end of the year I am also @cupsofcharlotte over there.

What are your goals for the end of the year?

Life Update- June 2018

It seems like a long time since I did a personal kind of post. I thought today seemed like one of those times I should update you in the things which have been happening in our lives. For sure there had been some big changes.

The first change is that I have actually completed my degree. It is scary because it’s had taken me 5 years and now I don’t have uni work. I currently don’t know my grade it has to be confirmed because it is on the border line of two grade barriers. It has been amazing to finish I can’t wait to actually graduate now so I can have the pictures but this doesn’t happen till November for me.

So since I finished university as some of you know I wanted to do a physio masters. This is something which I have not got on to this year I think I am going to try and get some more experience and then possible apply in a couple more years. When Jess is older and maybe we will do less solo parenting.

Solo parenting is something which I will be doing more very soon. As you may know I get a lot of support of my family when Joe goes away however, WE BOUGHT A HOUSE. Yes this is something which has happened in the past month or so at the moment we are looking to complete mid August and hope to move in at the end. Our house is actually an hour away from my parents. So this is why I am going to be alone more when Joe is away but I am going to throw myself into work and my blog. You can expect more lifestyle and homey posts coming up in the next few months.

In only a couple of weeks I have trailwalker which I did mention way back at the start of the year. I have been walking miles in order to get some fitness and used to actually walking distance. Most week days now I have been hitting between 8-10 miles which soon adds up more so in this heat. I would love it if you had any spare money to donate to me in order to raiser as much as I can for Oxfam and the Gurkhas welfare trust. As I write this I am close to hitting £550 which is amazing. If you would like to donate to me I’m sure it would help the blisters which I know are going to happen you can here

There also has been some personal things going on which I may share in the future but at the moment this does not feel right. And also i am not ready to share yet.

What have you been up to lately?

18 Summers Wishlist

It’s true when they are that time goes so much faster when you become a parent. I know for sure I can not believe how quick the last 3 years have gone. 3 Years ago I was pregnant with Jess and it is hard to believe that in less than 3 months she is going to be 3.

I was tagged in the #18summerswishlist post by Yammymommy which is a pledge list for yourself and your children, of things you want to achieve before their 18th birthday. Because you actually only get 18 summers before they turn 18 and if you are unlucky and have a teen who is too cool to hang out with their parents even less.  I loved the idea of this tag and maybe if I am actually blogging still when Jess turns 18 we can see if we achieved the things on this list.

  1. We have not actually managed to make a holiday abroad yet, this is something which we want to change. Travelling abroad is something which I have done a lot when I was a child and something Joe has managed to do in the past few years. Exploring different countries is something I want to be able to do with Jess.

2. Disneyland is somewhere which I would love to be able to take Jess. I was never massively into Disney as a child however, since they purchase Marvel it is a place I would love to visit. I really want to go when Jess is old enough to enjoy it and watch the movie however, I do still want her to be young enough to believe in the magic of the place. I do not think this is going to be a place we visit for several years to be honest.

3.  Learn new skills if Jess wants to do something for example like one summer learn to ride a horse. If this is something which she wants to make a hobby I will help her by taking her places which enhance her learning because I want her to learn skills which she loves this could be playing an instrument, cooking or even playing sport.

4.To spend a lot of time to together because summer at the moment is a time when we all get a bit off and it can be used as quality family time. Some of the best memories which we have already created as a family have been as a result of the summer time because this is when we are more likely to be out exploring. This is something I want to continue as the summers go on that is not to say we do not have fun at other times of the the year as well.

5.  To make memories and laugh as much as we can. I want the summers of Jess’s childhood to be special which may mean that when we look back when she is older these are the things which she remembers they do not have to cost the earth. They could be cheap days out or even fun in the garden when we do silly things like have water pistol fights.

I tag anyone who wants to do this to share what they want to achieve with there children before their eighteenth summer

What do you want to achieve before your child turns 18 in the summer.

Day’s Out- PYO Strawberries

Strawberry picking is something which I have wanted to do with Jess since last year. However, if some of you might remember Joe was actually away for all of the summer last year and this was not a task which I fancied doing on my own with her. This year I knew it was something that we had to do because Strawberries are one of her favourite fruits. Plus we knew that she would love to do it because who doesn’t want to have some amazing memories.

We actually managed to go to one near Grantham this year because we decided to go and see her grandparents. We invited them to come along to strawberry pick and shockingly this is the first time her Nanny had actually been. However, she had that much fun I am sure she might go again I know for sure we will be taking Jess back next year if we do not manage to get to the strawberry fields before the end of the picking season.

We managed to go strawberry picking the first weekend that it was open this did make me wonder whether there would be many for us to pick. As you can see by the picture above we did not struggle to get some big red juicy strawberries at all. Do not worry we actually only had to boxes of them the rest where the grandparents we did spend £20 on the ones we picked but they were so tasty. I actually miss the freshness of these and cream or yogurt for breakfast. I am almost talking myself into going back strawberry picking before the end of July.

The farm we visited was great  all you had to do was grab your baskets where signs which pointed you in the direction of the picking fields. It only took 5 minutes walk to find the rows of strawberries which is great because we had been in the car for over 2 hours due to travelling to the grandparents. Jess was keen to get her hands on the strawberries and off she went to pick them with her little basket. It was pretty quite when we was out in the fields which means she could roam around. With the instruction on only picking the red ones because they were the ones which were ready.

Thinking back to when I went strawberry picking as a child I thought the juicy ones used to be on the outside. However, when we visited it was the middle this could have been due to going to a different part of the season to be honest. But of course we had to test a couple of them to make sure that they were of good quality before we actually paid for them.

If you have never been strawberry picking it is something I would recommend. We for sure had some great fun and the different in the taste is unreal a tip I would say is go either in the morning or late afternoon so it is not too hot and make sure you have comfortable shoes on due to the fact you may get a attacked by the lane of strawberries and the fact that you could be walking a fair distance.

Have you been strawberry picking yet this year, I know they are still open if the answer is no.

See A Different Side of Tenerife- Virgin of Candelaria

When we think of the island of Tenerife most of us think about the beautiful beaches, hot weather and resorts.  However, there is a huge cultural festival which takes place when millions of us Brits have flocked to the island ready to worship the sun.

Virgin of Candelaria festival takes place every single 14-15th August in the peak of the tourist season. This festival actually celebrates the lady of Candelaria, otherwise known as the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands. People visit from all of the Canary Islands visit the city of Candelaria to participate in processions. This is only 50 minutes’ drive from the popular resort of Playas de la Americas meaning you could actually take in some of the celebrations should you choose to hire a car.

During this festival due to the fact it is celebratory the patron saint of the land it is taken very seriously with mass, religious processions. However, if you are looking or a more party element this also takes place with hundreds of kiosks and bars which are selling a variety of food including local specialties along side chips and burgers.

The atmosphere at this festival is reported as buzzing even before the start of the main show occurs which is when the Black Madonna is paraded around the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias. The feast day  (15th August) is the assumption of the Virgin into Heaven, it is customary for college students and families to spend a day or two hiking to their Mother. They are rewarded by great processions and festivities reenacting the legend of the Black Madonna before attending the festival.

There is a reenactment of the Guanches and the Black Madonna meeting each other for the first time which is send to be very impressive. This occurs at dusk time following on from this there fireworks which are lit exploding into the night sky. On the 15th August which is classed as the big day there his Mass which is taken with very important people including a representative of the King of Spain and the President of the Goverment of the Canary Islands. After this there is the spreading of the image of the Virgin of Candelaria around the Plaza de la Patron of the Canary Islands .

If you like the sound of this festival and want to attend this year www.holidaygems.co.uk have some really cheap deals on currently in order to be at the event. I have found a weeks holiday in Tenerife including both days of Virgin of Candelaria. For as low as £240 per person this may depend of course were you fly from. I only looked at the North East why not combine some culture with a trip to the sun?

Have you ever been to the Virgin of Candelaria festival.
