Sleep better with Feather and Down

Sleep of course is something which we all need and love. It is something which some of us as parents do not get enough. I regret not sleeping more before Jess was was born because I used to be able to go to bed after a night out at 4-5 am and then still be up and at a 9 am lecture. Gone are the days of that now I need to be in bed by 10-11 pm in the week days.

Recently it was national sleep week and I was contacted Feather and Down. They are a company whose products are made in England who have a range of bath, body and home fragrance helping you drift of to sleep.

Shower Cream

Now showering is not something I always do a lot before bed because I prefer to shower in the morning due to the fact that the shower wakes me up. However, I did start showering at night because of the fact that this is claims for you to have a better night sleep as a result of using this shower cream. I have used this in the shower as well as using in in a bath for Jess. When applied to wet skin in the bath or shower, this creamy, dreamy shower cream immediately lets off a hit of calming Lavender and Chamomile essential oils. It made me want to drift off stood in the shower which is not usually something that occurs to me as I struggle to sleep.

I did notice if you use a shower puff and apply the cream to this instead of directly on to the skin the scent does last longer. This is something which I am used to due to using Lush a lot so this is something which I loved. I asked my partner to use this as well and he reported that he liked it as well however, he did not know how much it effected his sleep. One thing which I made him guess is the price and to be honest he was not very far away this bottle costs £6 for 250ml. You can get your hands on it from Boots I would recommend picking some of this due to the fact it might help you sleep better and it does smell amazing.

Sleep Balm

Feather and Down do another product which is a sleep balm this is a little pot which you are supposed to apply to your pulse points. I think this would be amazing because as many of you know I do travel a lot which means this could be popped into my bag. It could be applied if you want to take a nap in the car and also if you like me struggle with nerves I am sure this could be on which could calm you down before an exam or something which is stressing you out. This little pot will last you a long time and does not actually break the bank as it is only £7. I usually apply this an hour or so before bed when I am starting my routine this is going to help my body know it is bed time when the lighter nights come. This is one I would recommend for people like me who are always on the go.

Pillow Spray

There is a lovely pillow spray which has been created by Feather and Down it is £7 which is a fraction of the price of that of this works and other brands which I have seen. I have used this a few times and have noticed that there is a huge scent of lavender when you spray this. This is something to be aware of because I know some people like my mum can not deal with that it would give her a headache. I do have to spray this a little bit before I go to bed because otherwise I do find it too much. I do not again know if this was due the scent but I think I slept better and this bottle is going to last a long time which is always a bonus.

My thoughts

I think that Feather and Down are an amazing brand they can not say that you are going to have an amazing night’s sleep due to the fact that you have used some of their products. I would really recommend the shower cream of the three items which I have tried from them. It amazing that you can get them from the the high street for under £7 is a steal as some brands you would be paying double. I think this is going to be amazing if the weather comes warm in the UK where you end up struggling to sleep or even if you are going on holiday these might be great.  I feel like I am going to have to have a look at more of this range because candles are something which I adore.

Have you seen this brand or tried them at all?

Days Out- Exploring Dalby Forest

Having fun and a day out does not have to cost a lot of money a few months ago when it was a little bit cooler we decided that we was going to hop into the car and visit Dalby Forest. This is not a place which I have been previously despite the fact that it is only just over an hour away. As many of you may know Jess is such an outside child and would rather be having fun that stuck inside. Even in the winter she loves nothing more than putting on her coat and getting out so when we suggested a walk in the woods she loved the idea.

We decided that we was going to do of the trail walks I think we actually choose on the the 3km routes because we knew that it was not going to be far for Jess to be able to walk. There was stages were she did get bored but I think this due to the fact that she was actually fighting have a nap something which she has loved to do since the turn of the year. We did not actually want to carry her because anyone else who knows how heavy two year old are will know that they are not something which you want to carry for a long time.

We found a way to get her walking was to pick out a stick from the side and ride it like a horse. This is something which we loved to do because Jess was giggling her head of which is always amazing to hear. She even made us each have a stick which was like been a child again.

As you can see the views which you get to walk around are very pretty this is something which I adore because even though I spend a lot of time in York. The air of there is not as clean as it is in the forest even though we did go when it is off peak and very muddy.I would recommend wearing clothes which you do not mind getting muddy after all clothing do wash. If we are lucky it should start be able to dry up and getting walking should be a lot easier.  I think it cost us £4 to park all day however, I think it is March which it does change to £8 which is still cheap.

When the weather comes warmer and drier it would be a great place to be able to take the bikes I know this is something which when Jess does get her next size balance bike I will be doing.  It is very easy to put the bike in the car and have hours of fun.As an adult you can hire bikes so you do not have the inconvenience of having to transport your own bikes.

Of course, this is going to be a very great place for me to do some of the training which I am going to need to complete in order to do my 100km walk in the summer. I know that when I have finished my uni work we will be spending some of the weekends there and it will allow me to get to grips with the equipment which I will be carrying on my walk.

A good way to be able to keep the children entertained is the fact that they do have activity trails last year I know it was the Gruffolo which is something Jess is obsessed with. This year is the Highway rat which I am unsure if this is something which she has read but I am sure it will be something which she would love exploring. I think it costs £3 per family and this is going to be a good couple of hours out in the fresh air as it is 1.5km and with little legs it can take longer.

There is also an amazing play park which your child can burn a lot of the energy of at. This is for sure something which Jess needs to do. I think she spent about an hour in the park which was fun even though it was very cold when we visited. Hopefully when we go next we find it a bit more warmer but we did manage to get a really nice hot drink they do sell food which did not seem to expensive. However, we did treat Jess to a picnic because this is something which she always seems to enjoy. I think maybe in the summer we might do a bbq because you can take them disposables ones as well.

Conclusion

I for sure know this is going to be a place where we are going I be revisiting again this year when the weather does become a little bit better. Who doesn’t want to be able to get out walking which keeps you fit and healthy like I said Jess can take her bike. No doubt because she is obsessed with bubbles and footballs these are things which we will be taking.

I would recommend taking a picnic because I can imaging that it is going to be a bit of a wait for food when it is busy. Plus it does mean you can stop where you want and have some food which is an advantage. For £10 you can have a lot of fun and fresh air there is also a go ape there which could be fun if you fancy that.

Have you been to Dalby Forest?

Keeping Hydrated with Aqua Carpatica

As some of you know that I am in training as such for my 100km in under 30 hours.  I am trying to get a little bit fitter because of course, this is going to help me feel better while doing this. Increasing my water intake is also going to help I know that I do not drink enough water as you are meant to drink 2 litres per day this is something which I have been trying to achieve since the start of the year. I am having a lot of mixed days sometimes I find it very easy to drink a lot of water other days when I am bust and not working on my laptop I can find it a struggle to drink water.

I was contacted by the lovely people at Aqua Carpatica to see if I would like to review their water. This is untouched spring water which has is source in Romania close to the forest which is in the free from chemicals and farming. This does mean that it is pure spring water which is as pure as it can be. Which is always a bonus when you are drinking bottled water as it is a lot better for you compared to water with a lot of chemicals pumped into it.

I got sent these huge 1 liters  bottle of still water which means that you could very easily carry it around it with you for example I could have it in my University bag. The still natural water is great for when the body needs healthy hydration and it also has the lowest sodium level of any bottled water which is currently on the market within the UK.  This is great for me because I can get dehydrated because I forget a lot of the time to drink when am busy writing my dissertation.

I have been putting this in the fridge because of course chilled water is always the best. I think that it made it taste even more clean and fresh. You can taste the difference compared to normal tap water it is a lot more softer maybe this is because I live in an area which does have hard water.

Due to the fact that the bottle is a large it can be kept in the fridge and you can grab a glass when you need it for me this is sometimes after doing a lot of time on my computer or when I have been running around like a crazy mummy.  It does allow my body to have the fluid which I need to refuel and stop me been very dehydrated which can be come a problem for me.  I can completely tell the difference when I have been drinking water I seem to have a reduction in the amount of headaches which I get and also I feel like I have a lot more energy. This could be due to the fact that I am not dehydrated and my body is trying to shut down.

For a 500ml bottle the RRP  for the still natural water is 69p and 1 litre is 89p while 1.5 litre only 99p,. This is very cheap considering other brands charger 99p for 500ml this can be more expensive depending where you are purchasing it for. This for me is very good value compare to the other prices. Aqua Carpatica is amazingly priced. You can purchase these bottles through out the UK in Tesco, Ocado, Amazon and independent stores.

Conclusion

I would recommend giving this water a try if you are like me if you are struggling to drink enough water. The benefits are huge drinking water this is very clean and easy to drink which makes me want to drink more so I feel refreshed and feel the benefits. It is great for those who are like me who are always on the go but still need to be able to stay hydrated .

Do you drink enough water?

Vintage Inns – The Three Cups – Stamford Bridge Food Review

A few months ago now after a day at the beach, we were heading back towards York in need of food. When we drove through a village called Stamford Bridge which is close to York. I think we had a couple of moments to have a look at the menu before they stopped serving food as it was around 9 pm. The food which we choose was of a very high standard that we decided that we would return in the future.

A couple of weeks ago now we actually made the returning visit. As we were child free for the night and looking for somewhere to have some high-quality food and we knew this is something which would find at the three cups in Stamford Bridge. As you can see from the menu they do have a vast array of food which you can choose from. All which is cooked fresh when you order as you would expect. One thing which I would state is the food is not that expensive I think for a two-course meal for two it came to around £40 this included drinks.

I choose to have the pate as a starter which is something that I am highly fond of anyway. It came with a small amount of toasted bread which of course was delicious I managed to spread it over the bread. However as with pate when you have eaten it you walkways wish there was more this something which I really enjoy. This for sure is something which I would have again if I returned I think it might have been what I had on my initial visit as well.

My partner, on the other hand, a prawn cocktail which is something that I am not a huge fan of anyway. However, this did make me jealous because I think for sure I could have had this. It looked like it had the right amount of sauce this is something which I find rare when you order a prawn cocktail as usually, you get either a large number of prawns and a lack of sauce or the other way around. This is for sure one which he would recommend as it is the second time he has had this meal when we have dined at this pub. I think if we returned it may be something which I order because of how nice it does look which say a lot because I really do like the pate.

Burgers are something which a lot of restaurants/pubs serve, however, it can be hard to find one which is of high quality with succulent meat. This is for sure something which you can find at the three cups as you see the size of the burgers are large enough that they should fill you up. For example my partner who can eat so much found this filling even if I did steal his onion ring which was amazing as it was made with proper onion which means that it was so fresh. I think I could just have consumed a bowl of them on there own and not even been sorry. I think that this is something which most people would enjoy no matter if they are a picky eater or not.

Me on the other hand fancied something different this is why I choose the salmon as it is a dish which I do not have often. This came with potatoes and vegetables and a lovely source which for the life of me I can not remember what it was at all. This is something which I would recommend because of you are someone like me who does not always want something so filling like a burger, of course this is a little bit more of a healthy option. I think this for sure is something which I which I would have again in the future should I be returning to this restaurant. We can not comment on the drinks because of the fact that the fact that we both had a pint of coke.

Conclusion

This for sure is a place which we would visit again due to the fact that we have had great service both times we have been. The food had been of amazing quality which made up really want to go back I think there is still so much which I still want to try on the menu.  This means that I am going to have to go back there I think this meal actually only cost us around the £40 mark and this was for drinks and a two course meal. I know that the vintage inn is a chain so I might have to visit some of the other branches.

Have you been to a Vintage Inn for food?

The Baby Room At Symths

Symths is a shop when we think about it as typically a toy shop this is somewhere frequently we can be found browsing looking for Jess. However, how many of you knew that they actually sell a wide range of baby items including prams, car seats and everything else you need when you are having a baby?. This is for sure something which I did not know I am not in the minority here and  Symths have listened and have relaunched The Baby Room which is the area which houses all of the baby essentials in store from the 16th March.

This is for sure somewhere which I would visit should I have another child in the future to have a look at the products. Due to the fact that they have a lot of the items out which means you can see their actual size and feel how heavy they are. This is something which is great because when we were looking for a new pram we wanted something lightweight.  I was actually very lucky and invited to one of the Symths stores to have a look around relaunched Baby Room.

To celebrate  the relaunch they have a new catalogue released especially; there will be a whole load of fantastic deals and offers one which is running is 20% off of car seats and travel systems which runs from the 16th-22nd March not to mention competitions and a fab Twitter party to take part in which takes place on Friday 16th March 1pm #thebabyroom. Where they are giving away £200 in vouchers and a Jolie car seat both amazing prizes to win.

Prams

All of the big brands are stocked within The Baby Room such as Graco, Joie, Tommee Tippee and Lamaze to name just a few. All brands who us parents are aware of and know are of high quality. If you are looking for a pushchair there are a large range which you would be able to push around to get a feel for them. They even have a buggy which folds up into a bag and weighs next to nothing which would be great for travelling.  As well as 3 in 1 travel systems for under £200 which is a bargain.

Car Seats

If you’re looking to buy a new car seat you should head on down to your local Smyths as they provide free car seat fitting by trained experts all year round. They will even fit them into your car seat they are so knowledgeable about what seat is best for you if it is one with an isofix base, or if your car already has isofix so can use this. They know all the guidlines on the weight you have to be to be in different stage seats. I did not realise that Jess is close to the weight when she can use the seatbelt instead of the 5 piece harness. They also stock car seats that are suitable for children up to the age of 12 so not just baby and infant car seats. I wish I had known about this when we were looking at changing Jess’s car seat as this is something which I spent a lot of time researching.  I was not confident I had made the best choice but it would have been nice to have a qualified expert to tell me.

I for sure will be checking out the baby room should we need anything for Jess even though she is two and half now I will be recommending to friends who have children or those who are going to be parents in the future

Did you know Smyths had the baby room?

Do Our Eating Habits Depend On Our Location?

How do our eating habits differ by region?

Something which we enjoy as a family is good food whether it be a takeaway, cooking it ourself or going out for a nice meal. It’s seems that we are not alone.

Britain is a nation of foodies, with 66% of UK adults describing themselves as passionate about food and drink. It comes as no surprise then that 50% say they are passionate about home cooking and 53% of millennials eat out at least once a week.

Brits spend a small fortune on food – whether it is takeaways and restaurants or luxury food from the supermarkets. On restaurant bills alone, the average Brit spends around £44 per week. But what does our money get spent on? Designers of modern kitchens , Harvey Jones, takes a look at the UK’s eating habits by region.

Takeaway lovers

According to a survey by Payment Sense, the average Brit spends around £9.75 on eating out or takeaways for themselves at least once a month. Annually, this works out at £117 per person!

Whilst Bristol is named the Takeaway Capital of the UK with a reported 279 takeaway restaurants, Leeds appears to be the greatest lover of the takeaways. 77% of Leeds folk admit to having at least one takeaway a month.

This love of ordering in isn’t reflected across the whole Yorkshire region, however less than 25 miles away, people in York don’t dine as regularly on takeaways, with only 25% of them ordering a monthly take out.

Chinese appears to be the favourite cuisine too – a favourite across the whole country. Only 3 out of the 30 cities questions didn’t crown Chinese as their favourite takeaway – and of all respondents asked, 35% voted Chinese as their favourite. This trend is mirrored between male and female respondents too.

Indian takeaways follow closely in second place with 24% of the votes – and it stole the crown as the number one favourite in Aberystwyth, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

Eating out

According to The Sun, the average Brit can spend around £288,000 in their lifetime eating out at restaurants, which many people claim is because they are simply too lazy to cook at home.

Whilst Millennials are expected to eat out more than any other demographic, the average Brit now eats out twice a week with pub grub steeling the title as their favourite option. 18-29 year olds spend double the amount of other demographics on eating out – with an average spend of £88 per week!

London is the city of eating out according to The Chronicle, with the capital consuming the most Indian, Chinese, Thai, fish and chips and pizza meals at restaurants than any other city. The South East and Northern Ireland aren’t far behind the big city though, whilst Scotland appears to be the region that eats out the least.

Birmingham is also known as the Curry Capital with 43% of Brummies claiming curry restaurants are their favourite, and 34% of Londoners seem to agree. Glasgow prefers authentic Spanish tapas (14%), while 14% of Edinburgh folk loving Sushi.

Pub grub is one of the most popular choices in the UK – and Liverpudlians couldn’t agree more; 49% would choose traditional pub grub.

Home cooking

With busy work schedules and family life, dinner time at home has become far less formal and structured than previous decades. In 2017, just over 20% of British families said they sat down to dinner together once or twice a week, and one in five have their ‘family meals’ whilst sat in front of the television. However, some people prefer to cook their own meals at home, as they can control their own ingredients (49%).

According to Statista, 64% of people enjoy cooking, whilst 55% describe cooking as something they have to do but don’t. There has also been a 10% increase in the number of people preparing meals from scratch at least once a week from 2005. But which regions are most likely to cook homecooked meals?

Judging by how much London, the South West and Northern Ireland eat out, we can assume that they are the regions that are least likely to stay home and cook meals. However, Scotland, Wales, the North West and North East were the regions that appeared to eat out the least, leading us to the assumption that they are more likely to stay home and prepare home-cooked meals more often.

The kitchen, for many, has become the heart of the home meaning we now tend to spend more time there. Now that open-plan living is on the rise, cooking a meal doesn’t have to be a lonely task; you can prepare a family meal in your kitchen whilst catching up with the family.

What is your favourite meal?

Last Minute World Book Day Idea’s

Don’t worry you still have over a week to get the costume World Book Day is Thursday 1st March. If you have a child who is in primary school or even nursery like Jess you might have to hunt a costume out for them. I already have actually purchased Jess’s I got it off eBay this year she is going to be Tinkerbell. As you know we are not huge fans of been falling into the stereotypes so this world book day is not going to feature any princess even though I have chosen just girls outfits.

You might not have time to go online and purchase them outfits without having to worry if the costume is going to arrive on time. I have chosen outfits which are all from Asda because they have some amazing ones this year and for most people, you can access a store easy and you can click and collect. Do not worry this is not a paid ad I have chosen these for myself.

Moana

The first outfit which I have chosen is this amazing Moana outfit I love how she is not a princess. But she is an amazing character who shows that girls can do anything if they put there mind to it and of course she does not need a man to save her like most other princess’s. This looks like an amazing quality item and it for sure does look like Moana however, maybe a little bit warmer than the ones which they sell in the Disney store which have crop tops.  Of course, this is going to require your child something like tights and maybe something else underneath to keep them warm. After all, it is only the start of March. It does come with the necklace and as a hell of a lot of detailing on it what more could you want for £15, you can purchase it here.

Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell is who Jess is going as this book day, however, because I purchased hers off eBay I can not find the exact same one. I found this one from George which actually has nicer wings than the one Jess has but I have ordered her some new ones. I think this could be easily used for a fancy dress party or even if your child likes to dress up at home. This again is going to need something underneath and tights because it is that cold. I think I am going to put a cardigan on Jess until she is in nursery. This looks long enough as well so that they are going to be able to bend down without showing everything off which is always something which you want. This comes in at £13 which is one of the cheaper ones and available from here.

Wonder Women

I choose wonder women outfit is actually exclusive to online but you can do click and collect.  In this house, we are a huge fan of superhero films. Of course, there are not many which are female so when I saw this I knew I had to include it in a post. It does have the cape which I know Jess would love running around with on her back pretending that she can actually fly. Who would not like that at the end of the day, it also comes with the headpiece which makes you look even more like wonder women.  This would be great if you were going to attend events such as ComicCon later in the year as well because for sure you could wear it there.  It comes in at £15 and can be purchased here.

Spidergirl

Girl’s can also be spiderman or spidergirl this year with this offering. Instead of having to wear a full bodysuit or onesie your little one could wear something which is a little bit more girly. This does come with the mask and the arm holders which will make them feel more like Spiderman. For some reason, I can imagine Jess running around trying to climb walls with this one. Again this would be another great one if you have anything to do with superhero’s coming or even comic con it comes in at £14 and can be purchased here.

Jessie

Last year Jess went as Jessie which was adorable of course, even if I do say so myself. When searching I found this outfit which I think is even better than the one which she had last year, for example, it comes with a cowgirls hat which even had Jessie’s ponytail attached. This could be used for any occasion. It is long sleeved and has trousers as well which means that it will not need tight but it could be thin so you still need to put something under. For sure you could use this for any cowboy even which your child is going to be attending in the near future.  I am sure everyone loves toy story so this is a bargain at £14 and can be purchased here

Batgirl

Black is a great colour for children because it does not show a lot of the muck so why opt put your child in it. Allowing them to dress up as Batgirl this is still very feminine it has actual sequins on the top half and then a net overlay on the bottom skirt. This does seem to be long enough to wear without tights, however, if it is cold you may want tights.  This does come with a mask which is glitter and there is a cape attached to the back which you can pretend you are flying with. I think this is something which I am going to look at purchasing in the near future and this is only £14 and available here

Supergirl

I think when I picked these items out I feel like there was as superhero theme going on. Of course I had to include another if I choose this one which was supergirl. Jess for sure would love it because it had the cape which had a glittered design which means that it looks a little bit more girly than a normal super hero. This is one which I think which we would pair with tights even though it is layered it may not be thick enough because we know how cold it gets in the UK at the moment. You can purchase this one here for £15

Captain America

Of course with all my superhero love if you have ready my blog before you might know I have a marvel obsession. I think my favourite actually had to be captain American so when I saw you could get a girls outfit and it does come with the shield I scream. I actually regret already getting Jess’s outfit because I know this would have been perfect even though we all know Jess would have been throwing this at me constantly. This comes with the mask which you can see the girl wearing which if it is anything like the horns Jess had for Halloween she would have on all the time. I think I might have to be on the hunt for this after book day and she can have it for dressing up this again comes in at £15 and is available here.

Thor

The final item which I have chosen is actually from a the boy section because it is Thor. This is my other favourite character this one I would think would be warmer with the fact that it is actually Long Sleeved and has Trousers rather than being a Skirt. This comes with a helmet mask which I can imagine Jess wearing even when she is not wearing the outfit. The cape does come off as well meaning that you should not trip on it. I also think that’s with it being a padded toro it will be warmer. Something’s which we’d are going to need if the weather forecasts are correct. This again is £15 available from here but I know for sure we would get a lot of wear out of it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I picked from Asda after all they seem to have some amazing costumes and we can all get to them easy.  I have not been paid for this post at all but these are the ones which I have loved this year. I am amazed how many super hero’s their are for girls which is great it shows after all it is not just boys who like super heros.

What your you are children dressing up as for world book day?

Forest Holiday’s – Compton Golden Oak Hideaway Review

Log Cabins

In the middle of December, the weekend before Christmas Joe and I decided to go on a child-free break.  Due to the fact we had not been able to have a holiday with him been away for the majority of 2017.  We did not want to travel that far because we know travelling over the festive period was something which was going to occur.Forest Holiday’s are a company which we have stayed with before so we knew there high standards.  The Compton site was where we stayed at this time which is not very far from Pickering in the North Yorkshire Moors. There are 10 locations in total we have now stayed at 2. For sure I would love to go to some of the other ones maybe not in December though. Due to the fact that we having a really nice treat yourself break we choose to stay in the Golden Oak Hideaway. This was even more luxurious than the standard golden oak we stayed in a year previously, however, these do only sleep two people.

Robin

Tree Line

With views like this from the windows, how could you not want to visit? Even in December when the cabin was surrounded by ice the views were stunning and you felt so remote and disconnected from the world. This is something which I think all of us need time to time.  There was a wide array of wildlife which visited while we were in our cabin I am sure this would only increase during the summer months.

Log BurnerEven though it was minus -2 outdoors that did not stop us having a cosy time with golden oak you get fluffy robes, great for throwing on after been in the outdoor hot tub. There is always a log burning stove in the lounge which makes it even cosier I can tell you there aren’t much better things. Than to cuddle up when its cold outside in front of the log fire.  In our cabin, we also had underfloor heating throughout which was great when you were on the cold kitchen floor cooking or just out of the shower.   If you go in the summer months there is also a hammock and a gas barbecue to use on the decking, however, it was way too cold for us to be using that this visit.

Sunken Bath

One element which you do get as a result of this being marketed as an ultimate romantic package is a sunken double bath. I will warn you that it did seem to take an age for the bath to run and we couldn’t get the temperature correct which meant we did not spend a lot of time in it.  You can make this even more romantic by having the mood lighting on as you can see in this picture.I would say that this element would be great if you went with someone who liked baths. I know for sure I could take a couple of lush bath bombs and spend hours in this bath.  There is also a walk in shower which is great for using before and after the hot tub.

Hot Tub

Talking about the hot tub this is something we did spend a lot of time in this year. Even though the cabin is designed for two people it still has a hot tub which could easily cater for four people. It is attended to every single day which means that it is always ready for you to use.  Also, it is clean as you can see it has a light so you can see what you are doing. This also has jets which can be moved you get the benefits where you want them. Even in the winter you can enjoy the hot tub and have a few drinks in it this is something which amazing. This is something I can imagine doing with friends even if you had a shared cabin.

Kitchen

After all of the chilling out you might want to cook you could order food from the forest retreat either straight to your cabin. On the other hand, you could eat it in their restaurant however, we have always cooked in our cabin. This is something which we like to do as it gives us something to do and cooking is something we enjoy anyway. If like us you like to cook there is a fully equipped kitchen meaning you can easily cook. It even has a dishwasher which means there is no need to wash up which is always one of the boring jobs. You can buy food from the shop, however, it can be pricey and the selection is not that vast. I would recommend going to the supermarket before you arrive. The cabins also come with a dining table which means that you do not have to eat from your lap which is something we do not like doing often.

Lounge

Of course, a trip to forest holidays is all about chilling for us so the comfy sofa is a must for us.  It was very cold when we visited and walks in the countryside were limited due to the ice. If you know me I am clumsy and would have ended up slipping and spending Christmas in plaster.  We had a large tv as well which kept us entertained we did pay for the entertainment package which is around £35 for a weekend. This allows you the movie channels and wifi which for us are essential as we go when it is bitterly cold. We even found blankets which

Love Bed

One of the best things about going away for me is always staying in a new bed as mine is terrible. The golden oak hideaway has a really comfy double bed. The pillows where that soft as soon as my head hit them I think I drifted off to a deep sleep. As parent sleep is something which I am aware I usually do not get enough of so this for sure helped. The room did not become too light and wake us up in the morning either as the curtains are thick enough. I am not sure if the same could be said in summer months.

Overall

I would recommend a visit to forest holiday’s their cabins can be more on the pricey side, however, for sure memories will be created.  They are beautiful high-quality cabins which I for sure would love to visit again. I would love to go back in the summer to experience the difference and maybe some of the activities which are on offer. Such as zip wire and archery however, with hopefully moving house this summer that does not seem to be on the cards.

Have you ever been to forest holiday’s if so what did you think?

Tips For Dealing With Hayfever

It is soon going to be March which means that it is officially the start of spring, which in theory should mean that the weather is changing. Of course, this is a bonus because who else is sick of these cold horrible days, however, with the arrival of spring, it can bring an element of fear to some. Hayfever season can start as early as March and last all the way through till August. Hayfever is something which I suffer from a little bit towards the end of my school life and then since I have had Jess it is has been a problem. Speaking to my Mum this is something which she suffered with until she had me.  Hayfever is something which can last for weeks to months if I remember last year was terrible with me suffering from it that much I had to take tablets for it.

Hayfever occurs when the pollen count is high it does have a number of symptoms however, you do not have to have every single one of them. It is pretty common in the UK with around 8.4% of people suffering it is more common in men than women. If you have asthma or eczema your more likely to have hayfever with people usually developing it in their childhood or teens.

Symptoms of Hayfever

  • sneezing and coughing
  • a runny or blocked nose
  • itchy, red or watery eyes
  • itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
  • loss of smell
  • pain around your temples and forehead
  • headache
  • earache
  • feeling tired

For me I usually get the sneezing, a blocked or running nose as well as it affecting my eyes usually I can end up wanting to claw them out which is never fun. I have in the past had it where I have wanted to scratch my actual throat because of my hayfever. I frequently get headaches and noticed it is usually when I have been outside a lot when the pollen count is high.

Prevention

Hayfever cannot actually be prevented which sucks however, you can treat the symptoms which you have.  I have found that keeping the windows and doors closed as much as you can help as it prevents the pollen from getting in the house. I know this is not always possible as it can be warm. In order to cool the house down, I sometimes have to use fans to keep the windows closed. During high pollen, I try and limit the time that I spend outside this does not mean that I do not go out. On the days that I do have to venture outside I also make sure take antihistamine tablets which help reduce the symptoms.

Apparently putting vaseline around nostrils helps as well this is a trick which I have not tried yet. This is something which I may try this year though it is meant to trap the pollen. Showering and changing your clothes when you come in from the outdoors is another tip that I have been given. Which to me sounds like an excuse to use Lush products and be in my pyjamas which I love.

What do you do if you also suffer with Hayfever?
